NYPD shot four people - including two bystanders one who is in critical condition - and another cop over a $2.90 fare.
  • “We will be working through the timeline of today, but make no mistake, the events that occurred on the Sutter Avenue station platform are the results of an armed perpetrator who was confronted by our officers doing the job we asked them to do," Donlon said.

Could we maybe not ask police officers to escalate minor and petty conflicts all the way up to shooting everyone in the immediate vicinity?

  • USA | Law enforcement leans on 3D-printer industry to help thwart machine gun conversion devices
  • “Law enforcement cannot do this alone,” Monaco said during a gathering in Washington of federal law enforcement officials, members of the 3D-printing industry and academia. “We need to engage software developers, technology experts and leaders in the 3-D-printing industry to identify solutions in this fight.”

Good luck with that, it's basically impossible. The best they could hope to do is have commercial printing services watch for and refuse to print the devices. Anyone can look up the patent for a Glock switch and design and print one themselves. It can't be blocked on the printer level because that would require the printer to be a lot smarter than they currently are, and any such blocking could be bypassed by building a printer from scratch (not easy, but totally doable).

  • i really hate telecommunications companies
  • Most are just going to laugh at you and be as unhelpful as possible if you come at them like that. You're just giving them an excuse to stick to the script and tell you to pound sand. If you let them know it's not personal but you're angry at the company and keep your approach professional they're much more likely to think outside the box, bend the rules, or escalate your issue to get things taken care of.

  • We've Had Enough
  • I'm actually talking about guns, and yes, they should be easier to get. The government and the wealthy should concern themselves with improving material conditions to avoid unrest instead of trying to monopolize the capacity for violence.

  • In California you can only buy torches and pitchforks that are approved by the state. Guess how many inexpensive ones are approved (lol, none). If you want to carry your torch or pitchfork outside of your house it either needs to be locked in a box or you need to buy a permit, which runs about $1200. There's also a fee for a background check anytime you want to buy torch fuel, and they're raising it by 500%.
