An Official Act
  • LOL, that's a good one.

I mean, it did happen in the Oval Office, not unlike Trump's decision to monetize the Resolute Desk for ad space.

  • From Boston to Palestine: Student Encampments Began in Peace and Ended in Handcuffs
  • That's true, but one can look at historical protest movements and learn ways to be more effective about this. MLK and Malcolm X were exceedingly strategic in what they did.

Or hire The Satanic Temple to do it for you. They're better at protests than anyone else.

Simulating homelessness is a shit tactic.

  • From Boston to Palestine: Student Encampments Began in Peace and Ended in Handcuffs
  • Fascism aside, who thought it was a good tactic to simulate homelessness as a protest tactic in the US?

Americans hate homelessness so much that they're okay with government spending more on the issue because, while cruel policies are more expensive, we collectively like the cruelty.

  • TONY IOMMI Photo Book Coming From RUFUS PUBLICATIONS
  • These sorts of books are great fun. I have one of Guns n Roses and KISS. Now that both bands are either done or way past their prime, it's nice to pull those books out and take a walk through my memories.

  • Eric Garner, 10 Years Later
  • Just guessing: Still NYPD with promotions or retired with pensions... now Imma go read the article.

From the article: "The Indypendent calculates that since 2014, these same six officers have received over $7.5 million in salaries (plus overtime) from the city, an expenditure that increases substantially when including pensions and health care."

I'm shocked, I tell you. Shocked.

There's also this line here: "Carr is also trying to sustain the national momentum for police reform, which has waned since the 2020 George Floyd protests. This past spring at the Civil Rights Museum in Memphis, Carr along with relatives of Floyd and Tyre Nichols, denounced the lack of commitment by elected leaders."

I remember when Biden mocked the Defund The Police movement in his first SOTU, and not a single "liberal" batted an eye.

  • Thoughts on the Debate: We're doomed.
  • I'm shocked that the guy who has handlers to make sure he doesn't wander off had a sub-par debate. /s

These two candidates are there because they're useful idiots for the billionaire class. Neither of them give a damn about anyone, and it's probably past time to stop pretending Trump 2.0 isn't happening and have an exit strategy.

  • It looks suspiciously as though Roberts doesn't want to be remembered as the chief justice who obliterated all respect for the Supreme Court
  • Meh.

    John Roberts is worth $25,000,000.

That's all he cares about. We're really going to find out how awful all of these people are after November, I imagine.

  • Weekly “What are you playing” Thread || Week of June 23rd
  • Fun!

I'll probably pick it up in a few weeks. I'm having a lot of fun with BG3 right now.

  • I picked Baldur's Gate 3 back up two weeks ago.

Last summer I played Act 1 of the game and found myself thoroughly satisfied, and decided to wait to play the rest.

Act 2, like Act 1, is just as awesome. We'll see if I decide to take another break before the third act, haha! This game is nothing short of a masterpiece.

Other than that I've been taking a lot of 10-15 minute breaks while working from home and enjoying the minigames on Meta Horizons.

  • Who is your favourite author?
  • Henry Neff, author of the Tapestry series, Impyrium, and as of this week, Witchstone.

Awesome writer. Awesome illustrator, and in 2020, he made my year. I DM'd him on Twitter asking if he had a physical copy of his 5th book in the Tapestry series that I could buy, because at that time you could only get it in e-book format. He sent me an inscribed and signed special edition as a Christmas present with a bunch of neat swag. That book is my prized possession.

  • I dunno, man. I keep telling people to stop voting capitalist, and every election it's 99% Democrat and Republican, so this is what happens.

  • The latest mini I painted for my DnD group, it a homebrew creature called a Kipine
  • Thank you!

No, I didn't draw them up, but now that you mention it I probably should. They're very holiday themed.

El Pollo Diablo - Looks like a chicken with a flame aura. Invulnerable except to laugh-based magic (Vicious Mockery, Wounding Whispers, Tasha's Hideous Laughter, etc.) or can be killed via elaborate practical jokes. Wields high level charm magic and powerful fire attacks. (Hence the name)

Turkeybear - Very similar to the owlbear except fatter and with much more indulgent plumage. Attacks with "gravy" (poison spit/breath weapons), sonic attacks, and heralds its presence with the dread cry "Gawwwww-buuuuullll!". I made him resistant to magical weapons and most slashing attacks, though coincidentally, is weak against cleavers specifically.

  • The Stanford Internet Observatory is being dismantled: U.S. Republicans attacked the lab’s reports on misinformation and election integrity — and now the institution is pulling the plug
  • Reminds me of how vociferously the Right raged against Obama when his DOJ released its report on domestic terrorism and rightly attributed to right-wing interests. Obama, as the good corporate lap dog that he was, apologized for saying the correct, factual things, which is weird, because that report's one of the few good things Obama ever did.

  • Called "America's Great Prophet"
  • The notion that civility should be maintained in the face of people's loss of station and recognition under the law absolutely infuriates me.

  • How's your week going, Beehaw?
  • Not awesome.

Dad's in the hospital for the umpteenth time.

Kid brother died yesterday morning, and even better, may have inadvertently hung himself during autoerotic asphyxiation. (Though, objectively, that seems like a decent way to go, truly.)

  • Israel keeps pounding central Gaza as Palestinian death toll in hostage rescue raid rises to 274
  • Israel keeps pounding murdering people in Gaza as Palestinian death toll in hostage rescue raid rises to 274.

That feels a tad more honest.

  • Is there a web browser that keeps websites loaded in background for android?
  • If I'm understanding you correctly, Brave Browser does that.

  • Spotify Premium User Slams App Over Audiobook Feature
  • I'm about 2/3 of the way through backing up my 'Liked' songs to MP3 files, at which point I'm ending my sub.

It's a bummer because I actually really like Spotify's algorithm and it suggests great music for my tastes, but, I can have that for free without feeding their stupid insatiable greed.

  • Welcome to the NFL Preseason

The only thing that matters in the NFL Preseason is zero injuries.

Hi folks! I just joined Beehaw as part of the Rexxit, and wanted to show one of my pieces to the fine folks in this community. I do a Halloween project every year, and for 2021, I painted the ghost with the most!
