Help to crowdsource data for a comprehensive map of Reddit -> Fediverse group?
  • I've added some alternatives to subreddits but I also saw that my Lemmy communities aren't categorized yet. Is there a way for me to do that or do you have to do that?

  • What skin are you using?
  • Yeah, this is just a cross-post, the original post has the same amount of downvotes. I wasn't sure what I did wrong but if it's just people downvoting random stuff for some reason, it just is how it is.

  • What skin are you using?
  • I have no idea what you're trying to say

Edit: This wasn't supposed to be an attack of sorts, I literally don't understand what that sentence means

  • Europeans of Lemmy, what places in Europe should foreigners avoid at all cost?
  • But I'm sure it's gonna get better if the FDP keeps taking away funds to use them for autobahns

  • Resources 1.5, a system monitoring application, has been released
  • They definitely copied Windows but Windows' Task Manager is honestly one of the few things I actually like about Windows. My issues with Gnome System Monitor is that it's missing important information, information isn't easy to read, I don't think there's a way to stop an application and it doesn't look good.

  • Resources 1.5, a system monitoring application, has been released
  • Should probably report that to the dev

Would be nice if you commented on the original post instead of this one. Also a reminder that the original post is made in the new community I made (you can't move communities to other instances yet, so I had to recreate it) and it would be nice if you subscribed to that community instead of this one.

    What skin are you using?

Would be interesting to know what skins everyone's using.

The skin I'm using is 霜滅 SOUMETSU by thetasigma

Been using this skin since it was released and I haven't found a better skin yet, this was the first skin that made me stop frankensteining together other skins to get a skin that I can actually play well with and it looks great.

Europeans of Lemmy, what places in Europe should foreigners avoid at all cost?
  • Yeah, I had to take a SEV for a while too because there was construction on the train tracks and I came late every single day because apparently nobody at DB thought that 2 full trains (and with full I mean that people always had to stand because there weren't enough seats) couldn't just fit into one bus. That bus was always completely full (people standing in the middle up to the front door) and a lot of people still just wouldn't fit in.

  • Resources 1.5, a system monitoring application, has been released
  • I'm currently using Mission Center, which is also really good. One of these should replace GNOME's system monitor tho because it honestly kind of sucks.

  • Automation
  • But god forbid the applicant didn't spend hours researching every little detail about a company, writing a perfect letter with information that could have just been bullet points and being able to explain exactly why they absolutely love the company and why it's been their dream to work there since they were a child. Or even worse: Use AI to write the application.

  • Europeans of Lemmy, what places in Europe should foreigners avoid at all cost?
  • Wanted to say that too. I mean, technically the train network is pretty well connected but it's so underfunded that trains oftentimes don't drive at all or they're late and then every train after that is also late. It's mostly fine but it happens way too often. I had to stand in freezing cold for an hour or longer too many times in the last three years where I took the train daily.

  • Latest Firefox and Obtainium?
  • What's different about Fennec on F-Droid? That's what I use.

  • Pity, really.
  • 1337 is fine for most stuff, I think. Private trackers start to make sense when you want to automate downloading shows and movies but if you just wanna pirate some game, you'll probably find it on 1337 with a ton of seeders anyways.

  • Pity, really.
  • I'm Gen Z and I still know all this stuff because that's just what I'm interested in. I don't think it's a huge issue that those things were made simpler for the average person and that they don't know how it works. It's not like you can or need to know everything.

  • [Solved] What font am I missing?
  • It's not that you're missing a font but rather that your font is missing those symbols. They're not just regular letters. Here's what it should look like:

  • VR support for GNOME Wayland is here!
  • I think there is an unofficial wireless addon but it's very expensive. I don't mind the cable anyway tho.

  • VR support for GNOME Wayland is here!
  • For some reason, on Linux, the GPU performance mode isn't set to high automatically. You can use CoreCTRL to manually set it to high. That eliminated those issues for me.

  • Cities skylines 2 is broken
  • That's what I meant with at the beginning. As soon as I started making more profit than losses, it became very easy, which also made it kind of boring.

  • VR support for GNOME Wayland is here!
  • Yeah, I have a Valve Index, which is officialy supported on Linux, so I don't have any issues in that regard. I think the only headsets that work well on Linux are the two with official support (HTC Vive and Valve Index) and the Quest headsets because of ALVR.

I recreated this community on a new instance
    discuss.tchncs.de osu! - tchncs

osu! is a rhythm game based on the gameplay of a variety of popular commercial rhythm games such as Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan and Elite Beat Agents.

    osu! - tchncs

The reason why was explained in my earlier post

    It's here now: !osu@discuss.tchncs.de

Do you think it would be a good idea to recreate the community on the instance I'm currently on?

I switched from lemmy.ml to discuss.tchncs.de but this community is still on lemmy.ml. I'm thinking of recreating this community on discuss.tchncs.de, where I'm now, because apparently there's still bugs when moderating a community that's on a different instance. Do you think I should recreate it there?

    I did: !osu@discuss.tchncs.de

Need to run update-grub after every kernel update because I installed a GRUB theme

I installed a GRUB theme and changed some options in the config but now I need to run update-grub (alias for grub2-mkconfig -o /etc/grub2-efi.cfg) after every kernel update or else that new kernel version won't boot. Does anybody know a fix for this?

Any advantage to using something self-hosted, like Komga, in Mihon (formerly Tachiyomi)?

I recently found out that instead of just using online sources, you can also use something you can host yourself, like Komga, in Mihon. I'm just wondering if there's an advantage to it that I didn't think of because the only things I can think of are:

    • Progress is synced over multiple devices
    • Online sources can suddenly go offline, your self-hosted service won't

How do I start maintaining a device?

I have a Nothing Phone 1 but unfortunately, no one's currently maintaining it. I was thinking of doing it myself but I don't really know where to start. Would be great if you could give me some pointers.
