  • Thank you for the work you've put in, guys. Life can really knock you off your feet sometimes, and I'm pretty sure Hariette has a good reason to be offline now. II really hope everything works out for her and one day she'll be able to come back.

    As for myself, at the beginning of the year, I plan to dust off the drawer and return to my mobile client that I started some time ago, and develop it in my free time. If someone likes /kbin feeling, I'm pretty sure they'll also enjoy this app ;)

  • Yes, unfortunately you would need a Lemmy account to be able to mod :-/

    This is one of the things I am currently working on; something should change in the near future.

  • In the latest thing with Reddit's /kbin, it was still in the early prototype phase (and remains so to this day). Prior to this, practically only I and a few friends were using it. It wasn't ready to handle the sudden creation of dozens of instances or accommodate thousands of users. Additionally, real-world issues emerged that demanded my immediate attention. I made the decision to take a step back instead of getting caught up in a race, opting to build solid foundations, which is exactly what I'm doing now. In my opinion, this will be better for the project and potential contributors, ensuring that their work will be utilized to the best possible extent.

  • Actually a lot is changing in /kbin, and this recent period has brought the most changes in months. Slowly we are coming back to life, and this time I will be better prepared.

  • This is just a prototype, there will probably be some errors to fix ;-) But I want to see how it performs in practice and over time, I will refine the whole thing, and that will take a bit more time.

  • /kbin Issues

  • Yeah, I have also noted that. I will check it tomorrow, thanks.

  • @Pamasich Currently, there is no such view, but I plan to personalize the feed /sub more with a brief description of why I see a particular post and the ability to filter, for example followings boosts. But that will be after the completion of work, at least partially, on federation.

  • Yep, images attached to Mastodon post also do not display in Lemmy comments. I'm afraid I won't be able to do anything about it on my end. I'll report the bug to the Lemmy devs, although they've probably already noticed it.

  • it works, there are delays. I will continue testing in a moment

  • There have been no recent changes in this area in /kbin. It seems that Lemmy instances have completely lost connectivity with the rest of the world. Test comments written on Mastodon in lemmy post are not federated.

  • Images definitely worked with Lemmy, I tested it multiple times some time ago. It still works with Mastodon and other platforms, so something broke after one of Lemmy's changes. I'll take a closer look in a few hours to see if I can fix something on my end. I'll fix the counter as well ;)

  • Hey, I haven't noted any federation issues lately, but I'll look into your specific case today.

  • Indeed, I missed that case, thanks.

  • When it comes to /kbin as a platform, the federation of downvotes will certainly work and will be configurable per instance. Today, I started the initial work on implementing new ActivityPub services from scratch. This is a good time to start a discussion on how it should work on kbin.social - to your points, I would also add:

    • Downvote federation only applies to remote threads from other instances, without affecting local therads
  •

    ::: spoiler hidden text title
    hidden text
    :::

  • I'm just wondering about 'spoiler alert' - what is it exactly? I haven't delved into Lemmy's code for a long time.
