  • So many people seem turned off by the lack of the second stick, but I always hated looking around with a right stick anyways lol. The trackpads were not by any means as good as using a mouse, but I found them more useable in most situations than a second stick. Also I have a tendency towards platformers which don't even utilize more than one.

  • They really did not market this thing half as well as their new one. I wonder if the lackluster demand of the past misinformed their expectations for the launch. It was also kinda cheap, it still works but the thumb pad long since disintegrated and the paddle flaps are gummy and the plastic feels brittle.

  • Steam Hardware @sopuli.xyz

Looked up how much I payed for the OG steam controller.

  • We know this stuff doesn't work and is bullshit, like IQ, but we still administer these goddamned tests like they do something meaningful. Separate you out into people who know how to cheese tests and those who don't. Measure your access to learning to ensure you already have privilege before giving you more. I wonder how many talented people have been held back because they never learned how to game multiple choice.

  • Generally speaking, public radio stations have far better programming than private ones (atleast in the US) Part of that is they get access to vast media libraries by being a public station, and they also have access to a number of programs they can pay to air. I listen to a local station which public. They play classical and jazz and you only hear the same song maybe once or twice a week, and its because the DJs like that song (Claire de lune comes on about twice a week.) The downside would be the NPR news segements they have to air at the beginnings of some hours.

  • If for some reason you can't boil an egg, or use a microwave, then you should be in an assisted living situation and you are beyond having doordash be a lifeline for you. There is just no scenario in which doordash is an essential service and not an unnecessary convenience. Also most pizza places have and always will do their own delivery (and they pay their employees more because they don't get to count it as a gig job.). Im not against getting shit delivered, just against paying a middleman for it.

  • You have really made a character there. My 90 yo grandma gets by on getting her groceries delivered. Most places do that themselves since the pandemic (or you can get curbside.) and you dont even have to pay doordash for it.

  • I used to do that with the meal delivery services (like hello fresh) mostly to see where the quality and portion sizes were at. Even when they were heavily discounted the math didn’t math though, I could still go to a grocery store and get more for less. You pay a lot for convenience no matter what when it comes to food.

  • I just grew up poor and find the level of fiscal irresponsibility involved in ride sharing your meals appalling. Not one of those “pull yourself up from your bootstraps” guys (there are lots of forces that keep people in poverty), but you might aswell be lighting money on fire if you get doordash.

  • Nah. Cuz frankly, if you are willing to pay that much for a delivered meal, then you deserve for some stupid bullshit to happen. Door dash would not be able to exist in a world with sane and deliberating consumers. You let them take advantage of you, especially if you know how they work and their reputation.

  • I had a terrible sleep schedule for many many years. Then I got a night shift job. The discipline it took to swap my day and night and then swap it back was what I needed to maintain a solid sleeping schedule. I have for 5 years now. It really does improve every other facet of your life when you aren't living through sleep deprivation.
