Greetings
  • Allo

  • Is GNU Emacs still worth it?
  • it's a domain specific language

Yeah, but it's very configurable and has some extensions that have really changed how I work in an editor, that I can completely change the internals for on the fly, which is not a priority for vscode

I have no strong attachment to lisp and I agree having to learn it is a con and a time sink, but I've done some small extension development for vscode and hated it

Nevermind that you already know the language when it's behind layers of api cruft and a seperate compiler, then the debugger gives you minifed javascript bleh

Commercial arguments are a thing, but a bit reductive no? How would vscode extension development help you earn a job that grinding leetcode or that specific role would be better suited for

  • Is GNU Emacs still worth it?
  • Until the day vscode offers something like elisp, no

  • Being a furry is just matter of self identifying as one and appreciation of anthro animals. What defines an anthro is very broad and has a very low bar to clear

So there's nothing else to it really, do you like anthros or not? And do you like furries (the community) and wish to be associated with them?

  • How has joining the furry fandom affected your life? Was it positive, negative, or did nothing of note change?
  • It's all early days, but it's been for the better. Shedding self hatred and cognitive dissonance is probably a good thing.

Like you say, trying to get validation from a bunch of people who definitely don't have your best interest in mind, don't actually have a clue what the hell they're talking about and barely know how to run their own lives is unhealthy. Especially when you find out they're actually 14 years old. Doy

It might not be possible now, but this is an urgent priority if there's any future development or forks :blobfoxbongo:

    Helloooo
  • Allo allo ^^

  • Mastodon?
  • Never used twitter, now use mastodon, just makes more sense to me. Find an instance where you like the content being posted locally, that's the key, otherwise I would imagine you kinda have to DIY

  • Why even bother with this tradition, are there 0.1% gullible enough to be swayed by corporate platitudes? Especially when there's a big hate number next to every comment

  • Can anyone actually stomach the 10 adverts in a row on twitch anymore anyways? I'm surprised people still put up with that, at least with TV you aren't actually missing anything
