Which behaviour of your cat you hate most?
  • Ours has an interest in any cooking oils, but specifically olive oils. If we leave a bottle of oil on the counter by accident we will find the lid heavily chewed, or the bottle topped over so he can get to the actual oil.

Either that, or the fact that he eats anything (might be related). So scrunchies, toymice, nibble-sticks. Nothing is safe for this cat.

  • Thanks for the response! We have a brush which we use frequently, but no spray or other cleaning helps. I will have a look at that. Ultra-sonic sounds and looks a bit too expensive for how we use it, so lets first see if we can fix it with the kit you recommend or something similar.

I will attach a recording when I am at home.

  • One LP suddenly sounds distorted
  • The same song played via YoutubeMusic plays normal, so I expect it is not the speakers. The music and album is fairly new (2023) so I expect they have relatively the same quality. But thanks for the input.

  • One LP suddenly sounds distorted

    Heey all!

Since a couple of months 1 of my LPs has suddenly started sounding really distorted. I checked everything afterwards, changed the needle, recalibrated, checked speed and skate, but it didnt change anything. The weird thing is that most (>95%) of the other LPs sounds perfectly normal and good. The ones that dont are second hand and might have been off since the start, I am not sure.

I am a bit at a loss, and as it is one of my favorite LPs I would love to get some thougts of you guys.

Could it be a cleaning issue, and if so any tips on cleaning? Or do you think it might be wiring or sound related? Just curious if you have any ideas. Many thanks in advance!

What have you been playing this week? (21 Apr)
  • We were on holiday last week and mostly played scout, which is really nice with multiple people. We also purchased buttons and bugs (gloomhaven) and played a 2 player variant. It works quite well if you respawn all monsters, but it is also insanely tight, most of the time we win in the last turn and need some good luck.

  • Fun year
  • Welcome! Always happy to have more people here!

My number one recommendation is the One hand & Six fingers comic. They are 2 separate comics with an interwoven story arch. It is a completed story so no waiting on new editions.

If you are into DC and Marvel they both have an alternative universe run at the moment that is pure gold. The Ultimate titles from Marvel and Absolute for DC. From Marvel I also like the Ryan North Fantastic Four series, short one off adventures with an overarching story.

Lastly Image Comics is having some really cool non hero comics, Grommits, Wicked and Divine, Geiger (kinda superhero-ey).

There is so much good stuff at the moment, I hope you will have a blast!

  • What are you reading right now?
  • I am currently at the pinnacle of Chris Claremonts Xmen run where they fight Mr Sinister. I was only reading the uncanny Xmen, but then they were suddenly face to face with Xfactor, so I jumped on that as well. Xfactor has been a pleasant read, really liked the mutants introduced there, especially Artie and Leech.

On the side I have been reading Grommits and the 3rd trade paperback of Monstress. Monstress is so pretty and interesting, but also contains a lot of woven storylines and callbacks, so I only read it when I have full focus.

  • Which board games have you been playing this week? (10 Mar)
  • We have received the Santorini jickstarter including Riddle of the Sphinx. Really nice coop puzzler that feels just the right amount of challenging.

We also have been playing quite a lot of Marvel Champions, as we recently added Storm and Iceman to our roster. Really like their niche abilities and interactions.

  • Which board games have you been playing this week? (10 Mar)
  • We have about 40 games under our belts, most acts with 2 people take about an hour. First time runs with new folks takes about 1,5 to 2 if they are really slow. Mostly the pace is picked up after the first act. Less new things to learn etc. I would expect it to get faster, but it i s still a 4 hour game if you play it in 1 seating.

  • Exhausted Friends Slowly Realize They Were Playing Board Game Wrong Entire 6 Hours
  • After a whole playthrough of gloomhaven and Jotl, we finally learned in Frosthaven that crit and negate cards reshuffle the whole deck, not just that card. Same for ability cards. Our games normally ended with the minion deck either always critting, or missing. We justified it by thinking it was an intended clock by the developers, to make sure the end was extra difficult... all those games are such a breeze now :p

  • Just finished The one hand & Six fingers

What a fantastic read, and really wanted to share it with someone. It got on my radar via some 2024 recommendation lists. I went in fully blind, not knowing what to expect.

The book had me hooked since page 1. It is intruiging, well written, and full of twists and turns. The way that Ram V and Dan Watters have woven their story is amazing. Same for the art, really captivating, props to Campbell and Kumar.

If you like thrillers and mysteries, or just want a good read, then please give it a go!

What are some good ad-free podcasts?
  • Strong songs is fully listener supported with a plug to his patreon once per episode. It is a podcast about what makes some songs better than others. Best if you have some musical understandig as he can get a bit detailed.

  • I have a great success to report on my foster void
  • Nice progress! Well done, hopefully she warms up even more soon, keep us posted.

If the bite pierced skin it might be worth going to the doctor for a check. According to my vet a catbite that punctured the skin has a near 100% chance of becoming an infection.

  • Are you a fan of podcasts? If so, which ones would you recommend?
  • Darknet diaries is one of my all time favorites.

If you like music analysis then Strong Songs is also interesting

And for a non serious listen I like to listen to Sherlock & Co, which is an amazing audioplay where Watson becomes a podcaster to deal with his PTSD. The adventures are self contained, so you can hop on any you like.

  • How do Americans win their country back?
  • Normally in Democracy the majority or popular vote wins, however due to the electoral college America has, it doesnt necessarily mean the majority voted for the winner. This was the case for Bush, and some other moments in the past.

  • What are you grinding this week?
  • I am doing the Tedious challenge, collecting things from the collection log via its plugin. Current assignment is 5 uniques from Hard Clue scrolls, and my luck so far has been horrible. 2 times I got the clue scroll that needs a rune heraldic helm, which ironman can only get from hard clue scrolls... looking forward to it finishing.

  • Rainforest Scops Owl in Madagascar

On our last excursion we were lucky once again, and found this sleeping beauty. Or lucky, she likes to perch at the entrance, well guarded from the sun.

We found this cutie snoozing in Madagascar
