Canadian former intelligence chief found guilty of leaking state secrets
  • I mean Scotland Yard is just the Met, like the London Metropolitan Police. They aren't a federal force, although locals do call them feds. The NYPD is the largest employer of intelligence operators in the world, it's not like the RCMP is unique in running a CIP division.

  • Cities Skylines 2 PC performance is below target and modding tools will be basic at launch, Paradox says
  • So, not a lot of detail as this is a shit post account, but I mocked up a vector based system to use rather than grids which allows a city builder to run smoother and lighter on ram instead of basically being a giant spread sheet. Each path was a single vector and a data tree ties all the information to a single point on an infinitely divisible grid. It allowed a game to be more complex, and allowed for better road and other building elements.

I gave it away for free, hoping someone, anyone with more time on their hands would use it. Paradox now owns the rights to that system, they aren't using it, but they are likely making sure noone else does.

What's so bad about dropping grids and right angles, why can't a building be a shape other than square? Because it's cheaper to do and easier to mod.

If I ever have the time I'll whip something up in unreal as a demonstration. The original was unfortunately built in unity. The whole point was to allow buildings to follow curved roads.

  • Canadian police won't investigate doctor for sterilizing Indigenous woman
  • Same boat here bud, there are more than a few of us. I love my countrymen, our heritage, and the people who come to help us build a great new world for all. Canada and the US are the same this way, we both have amazing people, but our governments are a bit shit.

  • Immigration minister says he wants to make it easier for Indigenous people to cross borders
  • Just abolish the damn border and establish a common immigration system. Both Canada and the US have deeply flawed immigration systems, by opening internal borders and switching to a common scheme both countries have a politically less decisive time to renew and update immigration schemes. By working together with a common border we can save significant resources in both countries.

As it stands both Canada and the US allow their border officers to perform inland enforcement actions, by working together we could still police and patrol the border (open does not mean unsecured) for drugs, guns etc. Heck, inspection stations like you see when entering California could be an option at high volume crossings, they exist in the EU too and are opened and closed depending on current events.

India expels Canadian diplomat, says concerned about 'anti-India activities'
  • I have an idea for an Anti India activity we could partake in, they assassinated a Canadian in Canada. Sounds like grounds for some saber rattling over NATO article 50, maybe some vague threats to India, and a renewed investment in our armed forces. Sends a message, avoids any real violence, and gives the governments of either country an easy out.

  • India expels Canadian diplomat after Canada links Indian agents to Sikh leader death
  • Here's a thought, I see options being thrown around all over like renouncing visas and such, but would assassinating a Canadian citizen in Canadian soil qualify for NATO article 50? A firm reminder from Canada about our key position within NATO (and a reinvigorated conviction to spending in that area) would give Trudeau an easy out, and send a firm message to India without needing to actually invoke the articles.

  • Eby 'deeply disturbed' by CSIS briefing on Nijjar killing in Surrey, B.C.
  • It's the usual response to one nation directly undermining the sovereignty of another. If this were my home country of Romania it would be a defacto déclaration of war under our laws. The fact that Canada is being so chill about a foreign power affecting Canadian internal affairs is actually surprising.
