Microsoft Recall is now an explorer.exe dependency
  • I moved to Linux Mint after a brief stint with Manjaro. I don't prefer the Cinnamon interface, but gaming has been perfect. Bottles, allows me to install GOG Galaxy and the games run. I even modded Skyrim using a manual process and a ton of animation mods, that worked alright a lot of times with Vortex ( for the most part).

Linux can handle NTFS partitions, and just take a small line to fix if they are open during a crash. Flatpak software is really stable to install and keep installed.

I haven't yet had a problem with steam games.

The only problem I have is with streaming services forcing Windows usage, so I got a VPN and raised the Jolly Roger to watch streaming services.

My 3080 plays games fine, and the few times it got a little slow I rebooted and it all worked fine. Discord calls and Twitch work fine. I even take my VA Online appointments with no issues.

It's closer to going back to Windows 7 or XP, with a decent free office software.

  • Some Floridians choose to stay despite warnings of life risk: ‘We have faith in the Lord’
  • You cannot assume that all the people unable to evacuate were obstinate religiously minded conservatives. Very few people have the means to leave their residence when the time comes.

Not everyone owns a vehicle. Not everyone can walk their way out of the path of a storm. What about all the people left in nursing homes. Katrina saw a lot of people forced to stay. Unless there are no homeless people in that section of Florida, I'm ptlretty sure there a lot more forced to stay than those who choose to stay.

Letting everyone die isn't a good way to get people to learn and change their minds.

  • Walz: ‘The Electoral College needs to go’
  • Guess you all are fine with having everything decided by a few states. I for one am not willing to end up with rle by the Mob.

Without the E.C., no presidential candidate will go to any Midwest state, southeast or the southwest. Politics will not matter in DC for any state past the coasts.

The system we have was designed so that instead of one group taking over we have to find common ground. Checks and Balances are important for keeping it in the middle ground. Just because it may help in one way, doesn't mean it can be used against the Democrats in the future.

I'm as far left as they come, but I don't think gutting the system for short term gains will help. We should increase the House due to thensize, but I think we should go back to a senate chosen by the state and not having senate elections. It has so far turned the senate into another popularity body instead of people being able to pass laws without regard of electioneering.

  • California governor signs law banning all plastic shopping bags at grocery stores.
  • I just wish they would ban the plastic bags and force paper bags. The thick plastic bag problem came from not mandating paper only. Plus a lot of those polyester bags were so poorly made, they didn't last long enough to male a difference.

Maybe it's just me wanting to go back to the stores of my youth when plastic was a rarity.

  • One big happy family.
  • I hear you. I was looking more for Arch with less of a hassle. Something similar to my Steamdeck. I guess I should just wipe this weekend for something else. I really want something for playing my steam and GOG games that works with my Nvidia 3080.

Luckily for me I keep every game installed on different Steam Libraries so wiping my install drive to put something else in isn't difficult.

  • Organized Left
  • I'm more anarchistic in personal beliefs but am willing to embrace social democrats to get some benefit.

The idea of the greatest social good for the largest group is more important than trusting everyone to follow the correct policies when given power. I also personally think that state power is incompatible with anarchist beliefs.

  • Who Stops a "Bad Guy With a Gun"?
  • Gun rights aren't for stopping active mass shooting events. Gun rights are to protect yourself and you small circle of family because the police are always too far away.

Active shootings are bad for regular people to try to stop because usually those people who do, end up being killed by the policemen they finally show up. A regular guy with a gun can never be expected to rush into a school to confront a shooter.

A regular armed citizen will be charged with a crime if they stop a school shooter or any other spree shooter in a gun free zone.

This data is disingenuous because they are plotting a unicorn event with a normal event to prove that Unicorns aren't helpful. The question doesn't make sense.

  • YSK: some common medications can make you more susceptible to heat exhaustion and heat stroke
  • Yea same here. I have to sit in front of my AC and bringing in the groceries makes me overheat so much I have to use cold water and the AC to stop it.

I grew up in deserts like the Mojave and used to be able to work in 115 degrees. Now I can't surpass 75 degrees.

  • The new gun laws sure seem to be working...

So glad I have to wait three days after buying a shotgun. It's amazing how much of a deterrent the new Visa Gun Registry, waiting list, and age restrictions are.

I really love jumping through hopes to exercise my rights. Hey, maybe next they will make me log into my citizens portal that monitors all of my online use just in case there is a chance to catch the next 1:99999999 terrorist that isn't a part of a three letter agencies.

Colorado is such a big freedom loving state.

    /s if it wasn't obvious.

    April in Washington DC

Finally I have something to post.

I tried to capture both ducks upside down eating. Found this funny.
