  • It's not even disappointing, anymore, when a developer makes a deal and then goes back on it; it's embarrassing.

And to hold the project over us because he can't get financing for the rate he wants because, somehow, the social units poison it? No. Tell us another story.

Better yet, walk away. Just go. Someone else will build on that site where this lying assclown won't.

And maybe put milestone clauses into subsequent contracts.

  • This.

As you age, trick or treat should be more like wasseling, where we wander the local hood, check in the people we should see more often, share candy back and forth and agree that Mr Stewart in #10 is a bit of a dick.

It should keep a more social aspect with less candy as we mature as social adults. Parents should take older kids to mature them a bit.

  • Thus Mike Farnworth's decree that Surrey adopt a yokel police force instead of using the traditional, national force, nullifying the vote and disenfranchising voters in the process, shows a bit more of his eventual privatisation hand.

  • I've never seen any of this. And I've worked with some very old nerds.

But I guess they're not 'tech bros' so it's not a good counter example.

They've also not answered surveys, nor would they answer questions like "do you think Melissa's as good as Dave in IT"; politely, at least.

Do I need to read the article to spot the selection bias and clickbait? I think it's all in the headline.

  • As a former military member, I strongly believe a civilian needing more than a bolt-action rifle is a problem best solved in therapy.

Jan 6 showed that even the most gun-clutchy of Americans were powerless to stop the near overthrow of their government, the very case for which they had the amendment to provide for a militia; although I'll concede the point that the gun-clutchers were on the wrong side of history there.

For the rest of us, we're most at risk of harming ourselves or our neighbors than we are doing anything good with a rapid fire weapon and/or a pistol. That would be a math problem except it's a history problem.

  • I came to say this. And that's one reason why I left my last post.

But it was more a symptom than an actual problem. The new boss really had no idea what he was doing, and it just became clear when he instituted a return to office to a new cramped bright hot loud environment after we'd all done really well working remote for about 2 years at that point.

The Dead Sea effect was felt long before it was my turn.
