  • I worked in a building designed to be heated by the mainframe in the basement.

4 years later the mainframe was upgraded to a new mainframe which didn't put out the heat the old one did.

It's been heated by a conventional system ever since, but the gawdawful conduction pipes still mar the exterior. Ugliest boondoggle ever.

  • The strength of the federated world will be whether a stream can be best managed through a torture of joins, parts, proxies and handoffs. Then we do it for tv. Start with public access junk, as the free stuff is still better than Reality TV. Show ads if it's feasible and free for viewers then and some money gets back to creators, but allow patrons above a certain amount to avoid the ads by just offsetting the same hosting/kickback cost directly.

  • The Bridge (Sweden/Denmark, not the America/Mexico remake).

8oo10Cats and Graham Norton round out the top-three, but any procedural crime show will keep me. Even Midsummer Murders and especially Silent Witness.

  • I saw the US remake and it's where I fell absolutely in love with the Joel Kinnaman / Marielle Enos duo. Could.not.stop ... except I hated the last season. I started watching Hanna only because those two actors were in it.

  • Most surveillance laws post 9/11 are really scary and give a huge amount of power to nsa and fbi to watch over any American without a warrant

It's cute how it actually tries to let them spy on adjacent countries, up to 100mi past the border (or, most of the habitable part of Canada).

  • not actually the problem.

He is, though. As president he can easily

I hear there's a huge difference between "not actually the problem" and "unfortunately not the solution."

By your logic, where "not the solution" is equal to "he is the problem, though", the penguins of Antarctica are specifically to blame for the post-pendemic economic collapse. They're not the solution, so by your logic they are the problem.

See how that works for the rest of us?
