  • If I mention that my wait time for specialized care was 2 months, do we then get to split the "well that's not the specialized or care I meant" hairs, or can we decide that outliers can still exist even if the average were to be improving?

As to premiers killing access to healthcare, I think when that's in the most important set of issues for us then we should vote accordingly and ensure in our regular letters to our MPs that they understand why we'll be voting so.

  • They forgot they have to have boats working.

"Run to failure" isn't useful for a profit-based company providing essential service -- or one trying to rebrand as a glamorous tourist excursion operator that also schlepps smelly locals back and forth.

  • My dad worked ambulance a fire for a number of years. He'd seen some regrettable things, and done regrettable things because patients didn't have a DNR.

He has a DNR and he will be prepping a MAID service when his particular situation slopes further downward.

  • So happy to see Canada computers in here. They totally saved my bacon and got a new machine running for me in record time when I catastrophically broke my daily driver.

Truly above and beyond service, and I hope other branches are as awesome as the Centrum branch was that day.

  • ADHD is often identified in someone's childhood — when parents or teachers notice issues such as inattention, hyperactivity, or impulsive behaviour

Or. For gen-x, it was "Billy is often disruptive in class, and is not performing to full potential. Billy needs to focus on work or he maybe held back," which they actually used to do. The whole issue was dealt with as a conformity and behavior problem to be resolved with proper discipline.

I'm thankful - I've recently been diagnosed with mild-to-profound ADHD, depending on who needs to derive validation from someone else's hardship - that I could skate without needing to study, and that I entered a field that glorifies hyper-focus; and while I'll never be a rock-star employee, I can petition successfully for environmental improvement and realize similar performance improvement.

Now as I talk with my declining parents, I idly wonder which parent bequeathed this particular genetic quirk that both enables my dream job and stresses my wife so. :-|

I rejected the shrink's expensive-as-hell pharma candy. They were helping her need for validation more than my anxiety and budget.

  • I don't need schooling. I need that third bedroom so my mom can come live with us because senior care is the cost of another whole mortgage and being regular humans we just don't have it. So, put it near a hospital or in a 15-min area, but I don't need shrieking kids (gen-x kids remember being told to only scream like they're dying when they're actually dying) interrupting work all day.
