Matty Healy: Malaysia festival cancelled after The 1975 singer attacks anti-LGBT law
  • I understand his stance, but that’s not the way to protest. His actions were selfish—immediate repercussions include festival cancellation, adversely impacting vendors, attendees, and everyone else that might’ve benefited from having international musical acts in Malaysia.

But in the longer-term, he’s made it that much harder for other international artists to bring their music to a country that sorely needs it and brought more scrutiny upon the LGBTQ+ community (who struggle as it is).

If he wanted to protest the anti-LGBT laws, 1975 should’ve just not come to Malaysia. Poor form on his part.

TL;DR: it’s milk thistle tea. Specifically, “Stipulating that it needs to be the spiky heart of the milk thistle, the plant needs to be brewed for 20 minutes to ensure it is bitter.”

What would you call a monarchist government where multiple families rules in turns?
  • Sounds a bit like Malaysia, where the “The Yang di-Pertuan Agong [the constitutional monarch] is elected by the Conference of Rulers, comprising the nine rulers of the Malay states, with the office de facto rotated between them, making Malaysia one of the world's few elective monarchies.”

  • Recommendation request: best travel credit card?

Hey everyone - was wondering, does anyone have recommendations for a travel credit card?

I’m in the market for one and am particularly looking for a card that has:

    1. Decent local spend to point conversion
    2. Decent array of airport lounge access
    3. Perks for hotel stats are a bonus, not required

I’m looking at three now (HSBC TravelOne, UOB PRVI Miles Card, CIMB Travel World Elite) but any advice or considerations would be appreciated!

For what it’s worth: anything with min income requirement is <RM175k is fine!

How often do you brush your teeth?
  • Yeah I noticed that a lot of Latin Americans will brush their teeth after lunch (which I think is pretty commendable). I liked that, especially nice when you have meetings after lunch.

Where I’m from (not LATAM) - twice a day. Floss at night because I still wear my retainers and want to make sure teeth are clean clean before putting them on

  • Showering with romantic partners: overrated

Recent romantic partners always want to shower together and I couldn’t imagine anything more irritating. How do people get themselves properly clean while someone else is there fondling you? Sure, they can help scrub your back but maybe I need some space and privacy to clean all the BITS, you know?

So annoying. But it keeps the “passion alive” so fine, I’ll do it.

    Moisturizer for dry oily skin
  • I tried this because I’d heard so much about it but I found that it was too thick and creamy, and that it left a temporary white cast.

I broke my skin barrier recently and was using this —would have to reapply to parts of my face while at work and I looked strange having a white cast around random parts of my face :/
