  • We used to have a combined tracker for Kbin+Lemmy (the "threadiverse") back a few years ago. Is there something similar these days for Lemmy+Piefed+Mbin? That would be the really interesting number.

  • Without spoiling anything I will say this: I recommend taking actual notes. I did it in a physical notebook but digital has the benefit of being searchable. It's possible to get by with only screenshots, but I really recommend both and I thought the note taking itself was so enjoyable. I find physical note taking helps with memorization too, and every time you make progress because of something you've taken notes of is such a dopamine rush.

  • I think I saw a video about this some years ago on one of Simon Whistler's one hundred plus YouTube channels. It's a crazy cool place.

  • I think it's possible Kirby meant the "silent" part as an opposition to the more "loud" nature of both modernism and postmodernism.

Otherwise I don't know. I am autistic myself but it comes in all sorts of flavours from my experience.

  • Well, I think you'll probably be fine as you've been not exactly spoiled but definitely prepared. It's still a great game and has some cool stuff in it, but I think what makes the experience so impactful for a lot of people is that it's unexpected. It really presents itself well as a cutesy romance visual novel, so if that's what you're expecting you can get pretty mindfucked when it hits you out of left field.

  • I thought Horner and Marko belonged to different factions within the Red Bull power struggle?

  • I haven't been online much the past few days so I didn't notice until now. The Trending Communities bot is back!? Praise be!

  • I absolutely love Blue Prince! Such an amazing experience and a unique and innovative game. I hope you're enjoying the note taking and progressively losing your mind!

  • Me too

  • I'm more of a "doesn't pick up, doesn't open the text so it won't register as 'read' to the sender" myself.

  • Similar to Slay the Princess, from what I've seen (I have yet to play StP but have seen some gameplay). It does tackle some heavy themes, but if you can handle StP and Disco Elysium you'll probably be fine. Is there a specific content warning your hesitant about re: horror? Doki Diki isn't really a jump scare game, if that's the part you dislike about horror.

  • There is so much conditional dialogue in the game. No sane CEO would sign off on creating so much content that 90% of players will never see, but the existence of all that content is part of what makes Disco so magical. It was created like a work of art.

  • We have now probably moved past that, however. We're either in post-postmodernism or "pseudo-modernism" as described by some:

Kirby associates pseudo-modernism with the triteness and shallowness resulting from the instantaneous, direct, and superficial participation in culture made possible by the internet, mobile phones, interactive television and similar means: "In pseudo-modernism one phones, clicks, presses, surfs, chooses, moves, downloads."

Pseudo-modernism's "typical intellectual states" are furthermore described as being "ignorance, fanaticism and anxiety" and it is said to produce a "trance-like state" in those participating in it. The net result of this media-induced shallowness and instantaneous participation in trivial events is a "silent autism" superseding "the neurosis of modernism and the narcissism of postmodernism."

  • George has been crazy consistent all year. Well, the past few years actually. He's a very, very good driver. And Kimi showed enough promise too, despite ending on a bit of a low (too bad titanium dioxide is banned in Abu Dhabi!).

  • Thanks! I know I've trailed off a little in the quality of the writeups over the past months, but I'll try to pick up again last year and do better. I do enjoy writing to collect my thoughts after a race but I'm glad someone likes reading them too!

  • Felt like the perfect final race to represent the season, in many ways. It was tense, but also kinda boring. It was uncertain but also anticlimactic.

Congratulations to Norris. He was good enough to capitalise when he was in a car good enough to be champion. I have a hard time getting excited for the win when Max is showing there are levels to this, and honestly I don't think Norris is even the second best driver on the grid. But F1 history is full of champions like that. Hell, the very first champion in F1 - Farina - won his title despite never finishing in front of his teammate in any race they both finished. And recently we've had the likes of Button and Rosberg.

I'm happy we got an actual title fight, and I'm happy we got to have some tension over the past few months. Incredible comeback from Red Bull, and absolutely insane driving by Max to make it this close.

It's been a crazy year with how tight the field has been in laptimes, which hasn't really meant too much great racing but qualy has been a consistent banger. And how fitting it was that the last qualy of the season was one of the tightest all season. Now with the new regs it will probably be a good long while until the field converges again. Get ready for some 2-4 second gaps again across the field.

That being said, I'm incredibly hyped for next season. I hope I'm not disappointed!

  • Yeah I don't really get it either. I think he got some sympathy from how fast and unceremoniously he was booted out of Red Bull, and maybe that lingers a bit?

  • He sadly didn't have enough time to do it before Stroll's tires fell of a cliff
