"We're committed to release firmware updates to our devices at least until 2026" - says a company that launched a device with a 3 years old version of android.
  • Yeah, I see both parts of this.

BOOX advertises “Super Refresh” which makes eink almost able to play a YouTube video. There’s a lot of software (and probably hardware) development there.

Google still issues security patches for Android 12 as well.

It could be much worse. At least BOOX issues updates….

  • Definitely not a hoax. Trust us on that.
  • Well duh, it’s because we used the alien technology for ourselves in our most important projects.

XLR3 stands for Planet X (the place the aliens came from) Long Range (because it’s far away, duh) and 3 is because it took three tries to plug the rock in correctly.

  • Finnish startup says it can speed up any CPU by up to 100x using a tiny piece of hardware with no recoding
  • I get that we have to impress shareholders, but why can’t they just be honest and say it doubles CPU performance with the chance of even further improvement with software optimization. Doubling performance of the same hardware is still HUGE.

  • What was the last IBM ThinkPad?
  • We switched from Dell to Lenovo at work and the amount of times I’ve had to totally reformat a computer for something just randomly not working right and not being able to find another fix for it has gone to almost zero. Before, with 20 computers, every couple months we had to reformat at least one laptop.

Not a single person has complained about missing Dell in two years.

  • The infrastructure for a lot of rural America is not there to support EVs. The closest charger to me is 100 miles away. There’s a town 30 miles away that got grant money to put in a whole two chargers at a gas station.

I am totally ready to be all in on EVs, but I also would like something faster to charge my car than the few hours I could do off a 50 amp circuit in my house. When the closest Walmart is 30 miles away and closest department store is 100 miles away, a 250 to 300 mile range vehicle definitely brings range anxiety to front of everyone’s mind.

That’s not even mentioning the fact that I just remodels my house and spent the money to put a 50 amp outlet outside by my driveway. Any other house where I live would require a construction crew to be ready for that kind of power requirements.

  • Not only are they watching you, they're judging you.
  • Absolutely, it should be. I was being very sarcastic in my other post and basically said Squid didn’t outright say he wasn’t being paid, so that MUST mean he’s being paid and it was removed with a message saying I shouldn’t call a mod a shill.

Which honestly makes me think that I struck a nerve now.

I used to hate the hail corporate subreddit back in the day because literally anything with a logo was considered an ad by them, however nobody can deny that that kind of deceptive advertising totally happens.
