Brisbane's deputy mayor rails against 'radical' Greens proposal to reduce car dependency
  • Stupid politician doesn’t understand induced demand. This is nothing new in Australia, you can induce demand in driving and alternatives it works both ways and ironically giving people alternatives means less traffic.

  • Gympie Road transformation could turn Chermside into Brisbane’s second CBD
  • Yes, it is easily one of my least favourite parts of Brisbane. The new bus lanes are good but so long as the buses only operate on limited timetables, they won't be good enough to reduce the traffic load. I agree about the east-west connection, there is currently no way other than car and maybe a few bus lines to move in that direction on the Northside, the first connection for the Northern lines is Bowen Hills station which might as well be a downtown

  • Gympie Road transformation could turn Chermside into Brisbane’s second CBD
  • The thing that would solve Gympie Road congestion is a train line that goes along Gympie Road and goes from Carseldine to South Bank, if this could be done with a tunnel, I think it would work out great. I loathe driving on Gympie Rd because of how much traffic it carries. Also, no "Road" should be the centre of a city, cities should be made of streets that create more wealth by slowing speeds.

  • Fewer of us are cycling – here's how we can reverse the decline
  • For me it is the disconnect of cycling networks across Brisbane. The two main north councils have decent networks but there is literally no connection and long diversions are required to move between the networks, even in Moreton Bay the lanes just end and aren't always safe.

  • Hell freezes over as Apple supports right-to-repair bill
  • Louis Rossmann’s video is a good take on this. Basically the anti-repair stance they have held for so long is evolving into a passive approach where it is either too costly or too difficult to repair
