I used to pay for software subscriptions. I had a subscription to Substance 3D software and then they sold their company to Adobe 🤮 so now I 🏴☠️
also stopped paying for Spotify after the Rogan deal. I still use the free version for the "discover weekly" playlists, and I can't tolerate ads so I use an app called Mutify which mutes the ads as soon as they start playing which is a godsend
never paid for any streaming subscriptions and never will, VPN+piracy+Plex is an objectively better experience. no ads, no content removal, no paying $$$ to rich psychopathic ghouls
you'd probably like Lauren Bousfield. she also used to go by the name Nero's Day at Disneyland. very dark and with a lot of anti-capitalist themes. her song titles are incredible
also check out NANORAY it's more like weeb music, but very good and well produced
couldn't have happened to a better gal
Protzman appears to have groomed the girl as his protege
nice choice of words there VICE
I wish nobody cared about that dead shithead but there was just a stupid biopic about him last year that many people watched, and now this one about his teenage girlfriend. Hollywood cares a lot, at least.
so there's a new movie coming out about Priscilla Presley...
and it turns out the Priscilla actor is only one year younger than the Elvis actor, despite the fact that she was 14 and he was 24 when they met IRL
having an adult woman play the part of a child in a movie that romanticizes her relationship with an adult man. nothing changes in Hollywood
Ended up watching the movie. Really fucked up, very effective supernatural horror. Not without its flaws but I liked it overall, definitely glad I ended up seeing it.
Yeah I like horror movies, and I'm not too worried about COVID because I'd be going on a weekday afternoon. And since it's a lesser known movie that came out weeks ago, I might end up being the only one in the whole theater, which would be extremely dope.
I guess the worst that could happen is that I waste my money on a mid movie that I could have just waited a few weeks to torrent
btw you can bet your ass I've downloaded these all with yt-dlp in case they ever get memory-holed. honestly a miracle they're all still up lol

I haven't seen it yet, wondering if it's worth catching in a theater while it's still playing or just waiting to pirate it.
The movie has been getting good reviews but I understand it was made by some popular youtubers, which makes me somewhat hesistant to see it lol. But if it's good I kind of want to support it, since it's a smaller movie and not a major studio product.
not sure it's right to assume all of them voted against social services. and it's not like public housing has ever been on the ballot anyway. I know OC is a hotspot for rich chud assholes but those folks generally aren't the ones becoming homeless, are they?
sensory overload
this is how I feel about the spider-verse movies even though everybody else seems to love them
my biggest problem with lemmy is the circle avatars. wish we had the option of square avatars (with slightly rounded corners perhaps)
I still haven't picked an avatar because nothing I want looks good in a circle
Yeah, I'd recommend the shorter one because it has better pacing, but I'm sure there are some people who disagree and prefer the longer one. But honestly you'd be fine either way, it is a good film regardless.
[pedantic film nerd rant incoming]
It really annoys me when people refer to the longer (US theatrical) version of The Shining as the "Directors Cut", when in fact Stanley Kubrick actually preferred the shorter European cut of the film. He shortened the film in response to negative reviews that felt the US version was too long, which he agreed with. All of the scenes cut for the European release are unnecessary and provide information that is later revealed in the film anyway. These scenes slow down the pacing of the film and break up the tension, which is why they were cut.
Both versions of the film are good and worth watching, but it's a shame that the shorter, and frankly superior, cut is not widely available and practically impossible to find in the US (except via piracy, search "The Shining International" on 1337x.to if you want to watch it).
I'm just tired of the prevailing attitude that "more movie = more gooder" when it comes to classic films, when in fact brevity is incredibly important to filmmaking and storytelling in general. While extended versions of films are sometimes better, they're often worse (Apocalypse Now Redux and the director's cut of Donnie Darko are also good examples of this).
this is the reason why I don't do cardio even though I should
very few people will empathize with the struggle to gain weight, but it's hard for some of us especially when food is so fucking expensive
I only do edibles when my tolerance is low. That way I can actually get high off of 10mg, but when I've been smoking regularly 10mg won't do shit.
I've known people who take ridiculously high THC edibles on a regular basis and that's a crazy expensive habit, and it makes it real hard to quit.
"Misanthropic Division" JFC never heard of that one before. as if they couldn't make it any more clear they're the bad guys
"democracy"
The current Ukrainian government exists as a result of the Maidan coup that ousted a democratically elected president. This war would have never happened if not for that.
yeah that is surprising I thought most monitors have it these days
