  • I'm not making all of them haha, just helping to share them and spread the word about these new communities

  • I have never used the Jerboa app so take this all with a grain of salt, since it may be different than the website. The link with the [link text](/c/community@instance.com) should only work if the community is already linked with your instance, the two other formats can be put in the search bar, and after the instance fetches it, it should show up, but not sure how this all works on the app version though

  • This post has been reviewed and it was noticed that you are breaking an important rule. This post will be taken down and restored once a Content Warning as added. The reasoning is "Not every member of the community will appreciate controversial or explicit posts so use Content Warnings very liberally."

This is done by adding the NSFW tag, as that counts as a Content Warning from what I read on this platform.

Please review: https://mastodon.world/about as lemmy.world uses the same TOS and rules at the moment.

  • I think it is done automatically when someone subscribes to a lemmy.ninja community? Pretty sure you don't have to request it, plus it's on the lemmy.world instance list already

  • Yes, it would best to use two links, that is why I said you should include the following format in the post, then said it gets a 404 sometimes, and to include one of the other formats too that you can use while searching, if it wasn't searched for already

  • Good idea! I hope this one succeeds, since it is good to have a place to list Discord communities also

  • However, it can be said also that fragmentation is a feature too. It may not make sense for small communities with a small user base already. The point is that for communities like gaming, there would be multiple big gaming communities over time.

This is Lemmy, not Reddit and it being decentralized means that it gives people choice. If you don't like the rules or how a certain community is being run, there are other ones to go too and there is not one "right" option.

While Reddit was built for centralization, Lemmy was not. It was built for federation. By calling it a "bug", you are missing a huge portion of the reason it is that way, since it is working as intended, but I hope this comment makes you understand it better

  • I just want to make it clear that it isn't my community, I was just promoting it. However, I am glad that you found it useful and subscribed to it!

  • Congrats! Hope you get many more lily of the valleys

  • That's cool. I never heard that he existed before I started this game, but then he became one of my favorite villagers in the game!

  • Good idea to link that one too, but this is a feature on Lemmy to have multiple communities with the same topic, no centralization so we aren't just reliant on one instance. For more niche topics, it might make sense so small communities don't get even more fragmented. However for communities like gaming, a broad topic, it should be fine to have on multiple instances

  • A more thorough post is pinned in this community, but to put it simply,

    [Star Trek: Deep Space Nine](/c/ds9@lemmy.world)

The brackets is the text that shows up, and the ds9@lemmy.world is the community and the instance the community is on.

  • No, I don't think there is a way currently, the best solution is just to link it on the instance you are on, don't think there is a way to do it across instances

  • Yeah, however after it is searched it should work, the 404 problem might happen sometimes since all these communities are new and might not be connected with all instances yet

  • I referenced that exact community in my post though, that it was a community with a lot of memes, not very similar to the r/ADHD community on Reddit

  • Not sure, I am not a moderator of that community. However, while music is art, only drawings and sketches have been uploaded and the welcome post says sketches, works in progress, doodles, or finished pieces, so that means that it is probably not for sharing of music that you create, but good idea for a community though!

  • I will not be of much help, since I never really used Jerbora. On the webpage, you can search the second line and it should show up in the search bar, or the instance will look for it and show up later. Meanwhile, the third one should send you straight to the community on your instance, but only if someone searched for it on your instance already.

However, I am not sure of the layout of Jerboa or how that app works and where the subscribe button is located, so I'm sorry that I can't be more helpful in that area

  • I am just seeing if there was a community for this already created, as I don't want to cause unnecessary fragmentation of a community at the start, and I don't want to moderate too many communities either if I made one if there wasn't already, so was just throwing the idea out here too
