BUKAYO IS READY TO GO!!!!
I had a great week and it just got better.
Arsenal’s Spanish forward on fighting to win support for women’s football, leaving a successful Barcelona team and the stress of winning the World Cup

>“I couldn’t say the exact moment I decided to go; you change your mind every day,” Caldentey says. “You can think you’re mad to even contemplate leaving but it’s a very personal feeling, hard to explain. It was all transparent, calmly handled, I was able to focus on competing. And in the end, it was perfect. It was like: we’ve done it, I can go in peace. Arsenal was the right place.”
Wow, another injury during the international break! Hope you heal up quickly.

Arsenal’s new emergency No 9 on learning his new position, taking on Real Madrid in the Champions League and success with Spain

> Since the Arsenal midfielder became the Arsenal striker, he has scored more than Harry Kane, Lautaro Martínez and Erling Haaland and, told that now, he is laughing again. “The beauty of stats is you can present them the way that makes you look good,” he says but it’s not just stats. Ian Wright described him as the No 9 the club needed and Ian Wright, he knows, “isn’t just anyone”.
Budding coach tells Suzanne Wrack about role models, marathon running and the excellence of Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly

>Budding coach talks role models, marathon running and the excellence of Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly > > … > >Plenty of players do coaching badges routinely while they are still playing with one eye on a possible future career path, but it was watching the Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta, that lit the coaching spark. “Mikel was the one,” says Wilshere. “I’d never seen someone coach that way, I’d never seen his passion, I’d never seen how he would try to teach the players, both in meetings and on the pitch. I was invited back to train when I was between clubs, I saw it, I was on my Uefa A Licence at the time and it inspired me.”

4:45am kickoff for me :(
I decided to look up the stats and Stina is top of the league in offsides per 90. Alessia and Beth not far behind.
My observation to add to yours, is that I love Mariona’s style of play. I find her great to watch. Also Emily Fox’s play is also so assured. I read her injury probably isn’t too bad. 🤞
We're playing Real Madrid (͡•_ ͡• )
Wow, that is a really crap thing to happen.
Sam Merson, son of the former (Arsenal) footballer Paul Merson, scored an 'outrageous' goal, via The Guardian.
> The frontrunner to be this season's assist champion, with Christian Pulisic and Romelu Lukaku in his rearview mirror, is a left back who struggled for game time with Nottingham Forest last season and this is earning comparisons with Javier Zanetti. Nuno Tavares has come a long way in a short space of time. > >Didn't see this coming? You might not be the only one. To hear Tavares explain it, even his new teammates were taken aback by the impact he made since arriving from Arsenal on loan in the summer "They were quite surprised," he tells CBS Sports. "They didn't know me that well and I hadn't played a lot of matches." > >They know him now. Tavares has eight assists through 20 Serie A matches this season and is a key reason why Lazio remain on the outer reaches of the title race, as well as topping the league phase of the Europa League.
I once spent a night in a tent next to a zoo quarantine building that had a newly arrived snow leopard in it. She was sad and we heard about it all night!

Haven't had a chance to watch the replay of PSV, yet.
Having read about the PSG - LIV game, I cannot believe how jammy that win sounds!
The progenitors of post-rock. It's a "genre" that I only dabble in at the edges, so haven't really listened to any Bark Psychosis, despite recognising the name.
I took another listen to a few songs from Hex, including this one. It's atmospheric. Thanks for prompting me to do so.
I love how Arteta says in a post-match interview, "that's the beauty of football. You put your head down, be humble, and analyse how you can improve."
Time to give Butler-Oyedeji and Kabia a start in the return leg.
“first team in UEFA Champions League history to score 7+ goals away from home in a knockout stage match.”
This guarantees it will be a terrible 0-0 draw at Old Trafford 🤣
It’s great shite great being an Arsenal supporter. 🔴⚪️ 🎢
The wonderful Altered Imaged with my FAV track of theirs "Dead Pop Stars" live from a various bands concert "Futurama Rock '80". Claire as usual is a complete delight to watch, and this live version and performance is kick ASS!

I happened upon this live performance of their first single, today. Apparently, Glasgow's Altered Images got an early break when they supported Siouxsie and the Banshees on a tour in 1980 and then John Peel championed them.
Although this song has gothy undertones, they went on to have some chart hits with a more new wave sound.
Clare Grogan, their singer, is said to be the inspiration for Spandau Ballet's song, True and some of you might recognise her as Kristine Kochanski from the Red Dwarf TV series, as well as other acting roles.

No only does Richard Ayoade, AKA Moss from the IT Crowd, direct this new video, his wife and children also appear in it. Fay Milton from Savages is the drummer, having also contributed drums, strings and synth to Kim's album. I think it's a pretty neat vid.

This captures a vintage performance with very good quality soundboard audio, coupled with slightly more gritty handy cam footage and a bit of TV broadcast vision edited into the middle.
The blurriness is authentic because, if I had of been in the audience, I probably would have had several ciders beforehand.

It's already Friday 14 Feb where I am, so that means that I have been able to stream the new Horsegirl album Phonetics On and On a couple of times, over breakfast. I really like it. This track is the ninth of the 11 songs on the album.

Thought I would share a track I just heard on a radio show I listen to. A gorgeous, jangly sound from this duo who are based in Wiltshire, in England. Album coming in March, they say.
The injury to Havertz adds to Arsenal's fitness issues up front, with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli all currently out.

Disaster.
