  • "Inclusive" writing involves writing both masculine and feminine forms of words, separated by dots -- for example "francais.e.s".

The proposed law being debated by the Senate later Monday would ban such phrasing in education and all official texts, from work contracts to court documents to instruction manuals.

Macron appeared supportive, saying: "In this language, the neutral form is provided by the masculine. We don't need to add dots in the middle of words to make it better understood."

  • Too many meta threads and I feel more exposed posting weird or personal stuff.

  • It's kind of a pain since you gotta either mince a shitload or get out the food processor. It should refrigerate well for a while.

  • Saw a cute girl while when I was done watering the garden. Made sure to strut all tall and good postured past her. Then I disconnected the hose before shutting off the water and got blasted. So much for looking cool.

  • Thinking of an elaborate pun on posit as in "to put forth as the basis of an argument" and positive in the usual sense and ovipositor.

  • The argument that Biden is worse on covid than Trump has the built-in assumption that Trump would have done more about it in its second year and beyond than Biden did. That's honestly a ridiculous assumption. There was always an expiration date on covid mitigation measures and it was always soon. It's not like Trump would have had any more incentive than Biden to demonstrate his pandemic management skills after the election, he would have been out there declaring victory over Covid just the same.

  • Kitchens are terrible, but a place some people can deal with, but you know this already. You should probably be thinking about getting the bag and not taking a pay cut to work what is almost certainly an even more stressful job unless you want to keep going with kitchens for a long time.

However, fuck me if it can't be rewarding to cook at scale sometimes, beyond just pizzas. Some of the best hours of my life were knocking out breakfast orders on a busy day. The rhythm, the flow, the satisfaction of so many orders knocked out.

I'd consider the restaurant if you really want to learn to cook hard, but the commute increase is a big deal, not to mention pay. I think learning to cook more at your cafeteria is a good idea if you feel bored with your current work. From what I've experienced and what I've read, a cafeteria or such gig is really a good spot for working a kitchen if you can make it work. Way fewer surprises.

  • The problem with 40k is that space marines' pauldrons are silly. They're just so big and round and simple, but apparently critical to the design's identity. They could look so much cooler.

  • That first thing was so fun. I went into it thinking I would just reload, but it was so funny (and mechanically good) that I rolled with it.

  • Mœbius is so cool. I want to draw like that.

  • I think I mainlined it too much. I hit act three and now I play an hour or so and need a break. There's just too much going on and too much riding on everything now - I end up with decision fatigue or worrying that I should be bringing the right characters to the right conversations.

  • Just occurred to me that instability or armed conflict in Niger will also worsen the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean.

For all that western countries love to say they don't want people coming there, they sure love to create the conditions that force people to.
