Harvard has gone too far
  • Ok we're talking about fries. Deep fried potatoes. Places like in n out literally make them in front of you. You aren't going to do it any cheaper or healthier at home.

The "average" person doesn't "look down" on fast food workers and who tf is this "we" making fun of them?

And what exactly is the problem with cellulose? It's an extremely abundant plant based protein. It makes food have a better texture and doesn't effect the taste. Do you not eat salad because it has cellulose in the lettuce leafs?

  • This is a totally normal thing to find on your food's packaging
  • We're like 5 comments deep in a Lemmy meme thread about a recycled webcomic and you think I'm undermining actual efforts to end slavery? You're actually stupid lol. Please explain to me where the "actual effort" is so I can laugh at you more than I already am.

  • This is a totally normal thing to find on your food's packaging
  • I'm sure the people in slavery are really happy that slavery is at its lowest level per capita in recorded human history!

But yeah it is such a big problem we need a lot of effort in solving. It's not like you just can't enslave people or anything. Gosh I hope people come up with something eventually because I can't think of one dang solution to this big ol problem.

  • Chinese garlic is a national security risk, says US senator
  • There are documentaries showing Chinese prisoners being forced to peel garlic to the point they lose fingernails. The US levied heavy tariffs due to the dumping (fine with slave labor though I guess), then the Chinese used other countries as a middle man to get around them. I doubt it's a national security risk, but it's absolutely fucked up.

    Don't buy peeled garlic.

  • Where did the recent air fryer trend come from anyway?
  • Not every oven has a convection setting. I'd go so far as to say most rentals don't. Every (electric) oven does have a broil setting. But for some reason you seem to think buying a toaster oven (a small broiler) is fine but an air fryer (a small convection oven) is strange? And an air fryer is "huge"? Are you confused about what an air fryer is? It's like once square foot of countertop space at most.

  • Good question.
  • "People" aren't. It's regressives that are trying to disenfranchise mail in voters. Then they put a regressive in charge of the USPS who is trying to run it into the ground so they can be like "oh gosh look how bad it is!"

  • It feels so futuristic
  • I've been using it for many years and never once has it been wrong. Hell they even show you things added that day that are on your streaming services. Like down to individual episode releases.
