"This Week in Plasma" brings the news that QtQuick-based KDE software acquires inertial scrolling using touchpads, the inbuilt RDP service supports syncing clipboard text between client and server, and session restore (Plasma remembering the position and size of windows) is coming to Wayland, among many other things:
🌐✨ ¡Falkon es el navegador que deberías probar! 🚀 Desarrollado por KDE, se destaca por su ligereza y rapidez, siendo ideal para Haiku. 🖥️💨
\\Ventajas:\\ \- Interfaz limpia y sencilla. 🧘♂️ \- Velocidad impresionante. ⚡ \- Experiencia sin complicaciones. ❌

a huge problem that makes me still stick in X11 is the lack of allow make an app receive mouse events instead tablet events.
Wayland by design needs the clients handle tablet events otherwise it would be broken unlike X11 and Win32 that only make usage of tablet events when you enable it.
This could be a problem for some apps (mostly proprietary ones) that use GUI toolkits (very older versions of Qt or GTK) lacking proper support of graphics tablet protocol.

Do you use a drawing tablet with Linux? You can share your device info in two easy steps - no coding skills required! 💙
Help KDE devs like @redstrate build driver support.

"This week in Plasma" brings the news that Discover's list views can now be navigated with the keyboard, and that we met another accessibility standard by improving the readability of graph axis labels, as well as of selected items in KRunner and Discover, among many other things.

Plasma 6.4 is out and it's' more welcoming than ever!

Check out the tweaked tiling that lets you have different layouts for every virtual desktop; the overhauled Spectacle that makes capturing your desktop faster; how KRunner now understands color; and in general the literally dozens of other fixes and features that make Plasma friendlier and easier to use.

I really shouldn't be astonished, but I am 😵.
This is, of course, utter abuse of user data, but what's even worse is that Google allows this.
\#Conversations was taken off Google Play, and forced to remove its contacts linking feature for #privacy reasons, despite the fact that no contact data was ever uploaded to any servers, yet #Citymapper is allowed to share highly sensitive precise location data with third parties for the sake of #profit?!
🤬 Goodbye Citymapper!!
Thankfully we're not exactly short of #opensource alternatives: I love how #Öffi displays the timetables, but we also have #Transportr and KDE's #KTrip (which not only works on Android but also on #mobilelinux).

"This Week in Plasma" brings the news that Plasma 6.5.0 will \probably\ have picture-in-picture support under Wayland, that you will be able to re-order your virtual desktops, and that Spectacle will clearly tell you how to stop a screen recording (among many other things).
https://blogs.kde.org/2025/06/14/this-week-in-plasma-wayland-pip-and-accessibility/

Small gestures make a big difference! Natalie and Jakob are working on improving gesture support in @kde@floss.social Plasma. Check out their sprint report.
https://blogs.kde.org/2025/06/12/gesture-customization-mini-sprint/
Certainly to an extent. Though the fediverse model is much more elegant and clear. Plus it offers massive benefits to organizations. Seeking to have communities and comms that they can truly call their own. Maintaining as they see fit. The KDE and blender groups for instance have their own servers and their own communities on them. That they can manage and focus on just their projects. No missing on the servers with toxic political communities like leninists or fascists. Just their projects and only their projects or things related to it.

I just wanted to say: it's great seeing the first screenshot on macOS, and thank you all for making the effort to create great cross-platform software.
It's far easier to convince someone to move to a different OS if all of their existing apps work. Replacing each program that they depend on one at a time can be done slowly, over multiple years, and at some point you realise that you're not locked into an OS at all.
@kde@floss.social @redstrate @kde@lemmy.kde.social How about support for fingerprint sensors? I don't have drivers for mine and don't really know how to make them myself 😅
@DrinkyBird @kde@lemmy.kde.social
Yes, that is what it means.
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social If that allows window position restoration, then Wayland is about to be usable for me..!
@kde@floss.social @redstrate @kde@lemmy.kde.social Gondor calls for aid! And Rohan will answer! ✅
@mrgaturus @redstrate @kde@lemmy.kde.social
Right. Maybe submit a bug report?:
It sounds like the kind of issue the folks of the "We care about your Input" goal would want to tackle.
@kde@floss.social @redstrate @kde@lemmy.kde.social
that you mentioned is "relative mode"
my issue is easy to reproduce. Open Chromium in ozone wayland mode using a graphics tablet and you will see clicking and hovering doesn't work because chromium wayland doesn't implement wayland tablet protocol yet
@kde@floss.social @redstrate @kde@lemmy.kde.social Tagging @VermStudio and @Venerabela cuz y'all are experimenting with Linux (KDE is the overarching project maintaining Krita, but this will apply more universally to other art applications that can run under Linux)
And you may've already seen it but @Adorable_Sergal this might be worthwhile to you as well!
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social @redstrate@mastodon.art just make opentabletdriver built-in to the kde
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I use a graphics tablet, but it's VEIKK brand and requires a proprietary binary driver to work on Linux
https://veikk.com/route/v2/support/download
There was an open source project at one point, but development ceased after VEIKK released their own driver
https://github.com/jlam55555/veikk-linux-driver
EDIT: Didn't paste complete veikk link on first post.
@kde@floss.social @redstrate @kde@lemmy.kde.social Is this exclusive to Wacom tablets or is this an indiscriminate and extensive collection of device IDs
@kde@floss.social @redstrate @kde@lemmy.kde.social
Thanks for hint.
Done with my new #TUXEDO #InfinityFlex 14 Gen1
@kde@floss.social @redstrate @kde@lemmy.kde.social I added the XpPen Deco01V3 here https://github.com/linuxwacom/wacom-hid-descriptors/issues/468
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social @NGIZero woah really nice seeing plasma mobile getting so many polishes
@ulfi @kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I've been using GNOME, and I'm really impressed with KDE 6.4. It feels very polished. And the colour management is incredible. I wish there was a detailed discussion/explanation somewhere, just on that specific topic. I want to know why I'm liking the colour management so much now. 😉
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social
KDE/Plasma 6.4 is.very good.
It arrives yesterday my #openSUSEtumbleweed :mastodance: :tux:
@kde@floss.social @kde@lemmy.kde.social I like how these screenshots are both the trans pride and regualr pride colours
