Shaved, showered, washed my hair, started getting ready for in-office day but forgot I didn't book a desk. Login and notice none of my team have booked desks. Login to Teams to find messages that none of my team are going in today. Proceed to not put on pants. Today's alright so far.
I know I'll be bitching about it in a few weeks but right now that fresh cold air coming through the window is like manna from heaven after still feeling that residual overheated feeling today. Now this is good sleeping weather. Not to mention the soft drizzle. ๐ Wash away all that hot grime and dust please!
Went and got my hair cut on Friday thinking I'd spend the weekend doing a bit of body maintenance and letting the kid dye my hair. I did none of that. I barely left the couch.
Took my anti-sad this morning, three days late. Stayed up all night and still haven't crashed. Had a roll for lunch. I can feel my brain is not quite right, I'm lagging, but I just can't get sleep to take me.
At this point I'll have to aim to be in bed around 9ish or 10 so I don't fuck my sleep cycle up much more.
Some time ago I ordered a couple of things at a great price (as they are discontinued items), but the package never arrived. After broken promises and much hassle I got my money back, but was annoyed not to have the items. I have now found them on eBay and have bought them from USA for only a few dollars more than the original order, so am now waiting again with fingers crossed for pakige.
I gave Melbcat the last of a tin of Coles wet food and it was refused like it has been for like a week... then I opened the Woolies stuff of the same flavour and gave her a spoonful. That was eaten eagerly. So I gave her more with her usual meds and it all got eaten. I could have been getting her normal medications into her this whole time.
Was there something up with the freshness of that tin or is the Coles brand now not to her taste? I have so many more tins of that brand because Coles delivery slots cost a fraction of Woolies ๐ข
(Ideally I'd be shopping Aldi or IGA but require delivery. Also the moobean has very specific needs in cat food and I only just found home brands she can eat)
Was on an empty tum tum so was going to grab some sushi from Southern x for the first time in years.. $3.70 for a piddly little teryaki chickan handroll. Why you gotta do me like that.
Noped out and now fully invested in cooking cashew chicken.
Ugh, feeling pretty average after a relatively sleepless night last night. Forgot the silence of the complex yesterday wasnโt the norm and right on cue this morning, the lovely banging of renovations that would have made me homicidal, if Iโd actually had the energy.
Also the Swedish Death Cleaning show or SDC as it shall be known is pretty much Queer Eye w/out the self glow-up. We all know what a sook I am. I need not to be watching that on top of being tired.
Too many chores todayโฆ Pick up shoes overdue from the shoe place (hopefully theyโre still there after I keep forgetting), dry cleaner next door (Fam, I lived in that trench coat while I was away.), pick up my two-wheels (Did I mention that on top of service, repairs have practically broken the bank? Yep, several k later. Thatโs a holiday gone right there. Kill me now.)
Also, work be expecting me back a day earlier. I had a sneaking suspicion the date was wrong, but ran with it because I was travelling. An extra day or not. I donโt know whether to just rip the bandaid off. This is a luxury because Iโm usually right back at it.
Morning dog walk bonus from crime suburb - about $50 in loose change in two till drawers smashed up at the back of the car park. I guess the thieves couldn't see the change or didn't care for it, kids these days.
Thought I was going to sleep in the loungeroom tonight, but can't get comfortable enough on the cheapie couch/futon I bought as a stopgap.
Instead I've crawled onto bed with the little fan and a couple of the other windows open for extra air.
At least I don't start work until midday tomorrow. Well, today.
Had a long and productive catchup today to get my brain in motion again with Life shit at least briefly. Sometimes I am amazed and so grateful that people actually want to meet up with me and catch up for hours - maybe I am less amazed than before as my self-esteem isn't quite as shit, but still. I am so happy to have these people in my life.
Stoopid pre-employment check didn't like my selfie so I got some help to take another one, of course the silly company in the US (they made zero effort to localise their website - and proceeded to ask for more points of ID than I've ever had to provide even for Australian immigration purposes) So they won't process it until late tonight; bummer as that's one day wasted. I hope they give it the OK tonight so HR here can progress with me tomorrow and fingers crossed I can start next week, I know the manager would like me on asap.
Dropped off my stuff at the op shop first thing. There was an appalling amount of mess they were cleaning up that had been dumped there by people over the weekend, then probably sifted through and scattered by people taking stuff.
After an exciting day full of things like sorting my tea towel collection and washing the cover on my couch I think it is time to start on Taco Tuesday.
Lounge-gang represent. Today I weirdly slept the majority of day away (I thought I was dozing, LOL trickโs on me).
Was about to fall asleep a couple of hours ago and then heard a weird plastic snap noise. Then had a bad dream and then plastic noise againโฆ Now part of the canโt sleep gang. So glad Iโm not back at work yet, this would be a bad day.
Think Iโll watch some more Swedish Death Cleaning on SBS.
Argh, every time I switch tabs to a different app on the iPad, Mlem crashes (and eats my half-written comment). I just realised I have to put in for leave again for Uniโฆ Oops, I feel bad but I canโt opt out of this intensive.
Managed to get some chores done, but hoooly hell $30+ for dry cleaning a trench coat? Maybe Iโm out of touch, but hey it did such an amazing job while I was away.
Iโm also onto the Australian version of Aloneโฆ Yeah, so far mehโฆ
I have also migrated back to the bedroom, thank you blessed cool!
Has anyone ever had to deal with drain flies? At least I think thatโs what they are. Couple of months ago I had my sewer drain unblocked from a tree root growing in it. Ever since then Iโve had issues. First, my bathroom stunk on sewerage for weeks. It was quite unpleasant but dealt with it. Now every time I go in the bathroom Iโm seeing a couple of these moths or flies in there and I swear they are coming in from the plumbing. Thereโs no other way so many of these bugs could be getting in. I keep killing but more keep appearing. I wondered if itโs my plants but these look very different to gnats.
I just looked at the fuel app and a few stations have gone up to 231c. I went straight out and topped up the tank while my local station was still a more sensible price.
My gym visiting times have been random while on break. Itโs funny to see the different crowds at different times (on working days). The crowd between 9am and 11am is fit retirees. Between 3:30pm to 4:30pm is heavily teenagers in school uniform. Right now I could be in a school gym. At their age visiting the gym was the last thing I would be doing after school.
Laughing at this IPA report saying Victoria has the most expensive energy, with WA being the cheapest.
Don't they look at the stats. The cheapest wholesale electricity energy prices in the past two years has been in Victoria. Meanwhile WA is in a generation crisis. Coal cannot be provided to Bluewaters Power, and the gas plants there are having technical issues.
They even called NSW cheaper. Hence I'm guessing they never went to an energy comparison website, and compared state by state.
