Hullo! I just wanted to make aware of the latest updates on one of the newest Fireflylite flashlights, the X1L Elite (I am in no way affiliated with them and read the most info on Reddit, but it would be nice to kickoff a discussion on it here too).
Yesterdays update includes these 3 emitter choices:
CREE XHP50.3 HI 5000K CRI90 2600lumens 120 000cd
CREE XHP70.3 HI 6500K CRI70 3500lumens 84 000cd
CREE XHP70.3 HI 4000K CRI90 2600lumen 62 000cd
It's very strange that the 70.3 HI 4000K would output the same lumes as the 50.3: I asked them and Ivy (the sales representative of Fireflylite) says it's because it's the low bin K2, if someone were interested.
There is as of now just one review by ZeroAir but it is expected that at least two other reviews will come out soon.
I hope some of you find this interesting, I personally find the 4 new models that are slowly coming out of preorder beautiful and with solid specs.
What are your thoughts? Did you preorder the X1L or other new gen FFL flashlights?
It looks like a nice light with good features, but the company's history of quality control and customer service issues would make me hesitate.
I'm disappointed by that XHP70.3 HI having low output (zeroair got 2173lm @ 30s) and still being moderately green. They might as well use a Getian FC40 at that point - at least those are usually pretty.
I haven't pre-ordered the X1L yet. Still thinking about it. With it's larger bezel diameter, I know that I won't use it as much as the smaller one's, just due to it not being as pocketable for jeans. Curious as to what the other two reviews on the X1L will say also.
I did get the new Nov-mu v2, X1S Pharos, and E07X Canon though. All in Fossil Grey, pictured above with some common Hank's for size comparisons. (L to R: DW4, KR4, Nov-mu v2, KR1, X1S, D1K, E07X, DM11)
All three of my lights have had no issues, and are very nice. I am well pleased with them. Email communications with Fireflylite Ivy have been prompt, and excellent as well whenever I inquired about something, I am glad to report.
Nice "black and white" collection you have there! Cool to see the two different and very characteristic styles from Hank and FF side by side.
I have a Nov-Mu V2 in fossil grey on the way and the color looks awesome in pictures, with the marbled texture up close. For the X1L I'm debating, but I think I'll go with matte black for the contrast with the shiny gloss of the stainless steel parts - unfortunately no clip in glossy black, but I will take it out eventually.
I pre-ordered an X1L the first day, along with an E07x 519a and a T1R, then offered in a 5050 Yinding emitter which got changed to the new FFL505A before shipping.
I already have a NOV-Mu from last year, didn't see a need to get the new one. Also skipped the X1S, I don't really care about pocket throwers and only got the T1R because the Yinding emitter sounded interesting, then stuck it out to see what was up with the FFL505A.
I also snagged a couple more E12r (making a total of 4 that I own). Known quantities that I really enjoy, that I expect will never be seen again.
The E07x Canon is very well built and sustains like nobody's business, but unfortunately the beam suffers a bit once you dedome the emitters. Apparently the optic sits a bit high for domeless emitters, some have been sanding down the shelf that holds the optic in place. Not a huge thing, but a step backwards from the previous generation. Admittedly I'm super picky that way.
The T1R with the new emitter is lots of concentrated pink. Some will think it's great, others like me will find it a bit much. Seems to be a little better in the X1S.
I have high hopes for the X1L. The Zeroair review shows somewhat disappointing output compared to expectations, but the white wall beamshots appear immaculate, and that's a priority for me. And I am a huge admirer of the work Loneoceans has done designing the past couple generations of drivers.
Nov-Mu V2 on its way, if a mule, then this I would say! Everyone seems to love this light.
I just ignore the existence of E07x Canon because if I just open its webpage I would end ordering it, too :D Hopefully it can be modded to make the beam pattern work with dedomed 519a - I also like a nice, even beam!
Yeah the output with 4000K could be a letdown, espetially if the tint is greenish. Maybe I'll change to the FFL emitter, but I really want to try out the 70.3. Maybe it won't be the right host after all, I would like to drive it with as much current it can take! Does someone have suggestions on the best host for a 70.3 - high output wall of light, good sustain? The Convoy hosts (L6?) look very interesting.
I was looking into high output XHP70.3 HI lights awhile back. I never did get one though. Like you mentioned, I wanted a light that would drive the emitter to it's full potential. The one's on my radar at the time were these:
Pioneman K80-70 (80mm bezel)
Convoy L6 (75mm bezel)
Noctigon K1 (72mm bezel)
Sofirn SP60 (70mm bezel)
Acebeam L35 2.0 (54mm bezel)
And watching the X1L now.
Not sure which would be the best. Don't know too much about the Pioneman. L6 would be a solid choice I think. K1 would be great, but somewhat limited by it's 24w driver. SP60 I think I watched a Smothered Chrome YouTube channel video where he liked the Pioneman a bit better. SP60 heated up faster IIRC. L35 2.0 was just coming out back then and I never really followed up on how others liked it and how much it's smaller bezel would be outdone by say the L6 or Pioneman. Not sure if there are any other big XHP70.3 HI lights out now to throw in the mix or not?
I love my XHP70.3 HI in my Emisar D1K though, hence why I wanted a "super sized" version of the D1K. 😂
