Definitely not the worst thing that can come from a chemistry teacher, but pretty damn close.
Pfft. These kids need to learn somehow. What if you get called to a staff meeting but forget your staff?
How can you call yourself a magi if your response to not having your staff on hand isn't to just start blasting spells from your bare hands?
The staff is the better weapon, the increase stamina generation while blocking means you can tire your opponent and force them to drop their sword, allowing you to defeat them more consistently.

Could be worse ?
Not by much. She has permanent damage to her wrist and will be incapable of many normal things for the rest of her life.

The worst thing about this entire thing is that their first and only response to this was to delete the evidence. One of their students was literally passing out from blood loss and the only reason they got any help is because of one the students sneaking off and calling for help.
When did public school become the new, late, birth control method???
