reddit bot followers problem

What do you think about that, for me is a desperate attempt from reddit to catch some users because of the followers

When I had a reddit account I just turned off the "allow people to follow you" option
What is the Reddit bot followers problem
- Is when by some reason you start to get random followers from nowhere, and when you go to it's profile there is nothing, so those are bots
  
  I don’t notice or care about “followers”, especially on Reddit. I don’t think many others folks do either.
I don't think it's something reddit related, it's just annoying
