Win empowers employers to protect employees from online harm
Article by Polygon: It reports on the ruling of a lawsuit brought by game developer Bungie against a racist who harassed and threatened Bungie employees. The case is a potential game-changer insofar as it allows corporations to legally pursue people who endanger employees when they are acting on the corporation's behalf.
This sounds positive but I'm curious if this could end up being abused by corporations somehow. Would like to hear someone more law savvy's thoughts on this.
Yeah, I fear the same thing. IANAL but I can certainly imagine that there is some corporate lawyer somewhere who looks at this ruling and considers how to weaponise it against anyone who dares to criticise his employer.
