Do you drink beer when you brew?
So week ago I and my friends brew beer, had BBQ and ecologicaly liquidated my beer/cider stockpile.
Let's just say that all of us has some murky memory of it.
I just know that everything got according to plan and the beer is good.
So do you drink when you are brewing?
100% of the time, even if it's a weekend morning brew. It just doesn't feel right to make beer and not have one.
8 0 ReplyYeah we started at 10 am (first bottle opened) and then one friend took me to pub in evening. So 12 hours of drinking.

As arrogant as it is, I've brewed enough beer in my life that I feel it's too easy without the added handicap of being drunk...
7 0 ReplyI am at this point, but then you brew amazing beer and don't know how you brew it.
4 0 ReplyThat's part of the fun

never! problem is that i get sloppy right after the first sip. so I'll stay sober until I've pitched the yeast. cleaning is something else though.
5 0 ReplyI don't, I am too busy sanitizing and calculating things... 😂
5 0 ReplyStep one of brewing is to drink brew while I brew! But I write everything down in my log to refer to later - measurements, observations, things that go well and things to improve on.
It's great to check that one beer I had hiding in the closet that aged amazingly well. Now I have a hope of repeating it.
4 0 ReplyNo, I usually start in the morning. Coffee for me, too early for beer.
4 0 ReplyThe Braumeister says 'Cheers!' once done boiling. It would be rude to leave it hanging and can't very well cheer with water now...
4 0 Replyno, because I normally start brewing at 8 in the morning to fit into my schedule.
4 0 ReplyI'll have one after I've dropped in the bittering hops, and one between pitching the yeast and cleanup. Too many little whoopsies if I have more.
4 0 ReplyYes, but I typically don't start drinking right away. I usually brew 2 beers back to back so brew day runs from about 8 till 3. I'm usually multi-tasking with making breakfast or doing things around the house while mashing and getting the first beer to a boil. Then I'll start drinking around 11 or 12 when the first beer is going into the carboy.
3 0 ReplyUsually, yes. But at the boiling step, so in the second half of the brew
3 0 ReplyDepends on the mood, if I feel like some beers? Yes. If I don’t feel like some beers? No
3 0 ReplyI strictly only drink afterwards. During brewing, I want to keep a sharp mind so that I don't mess anything up, and just stick to the plan.
After everything is done and cleaned up, I'll happily have a few beers and a pizza.
