Conservatives are into controlling people and mostly controlling women. If anything is surprising, it is that there are any women conservatives at all. This is also very similar to religions that treat women poorly. Why are any woman part of those religions?

Subjectification. People normalise what's normal for them.
Went nuts dating these last 5 years, went out a lot. Even in this very conservative area, women will quickly want to know if you're a Trump supporter. Or, they refuse to say a word about politics for fear a man is MAGA.
And it's not always because of their personal politics! They've tried to be openminded, but conservative guys tend to be assholes. These women have been argued with, screamed at and abused, sometimes physically.
I have no idea how you get a decent dating pool if you don't hide your conservatism. Worked out for me though!
