Young Great Horned Owls working on becoming Great

I've been waiting awhile for this great horned owlet to take his first flight, and today was the day. He landed in a tree about one hundred yards from the nest. He spent the next few minutes trying to coax mom and dad into joining him, which they were having no part of. After spending about ten minutes alone, he decided it was a good time to take a nap.
