I love the analogue of website-as-worry-stone.

I think there's maybe something going on that inverts the old programming proverb "No interesting project is ever finished"... The phenomenon the author describes, of being impressed by a professional website and then never thinking about it again, might be quipped as "No finished website is ever interesting (for long)."
