I didn't care for any of the characters, the big fight looked expensive to animate, but there was never any sense that the sword dude was ever in danger.
Nor did I get any sense of the plot's direction or why I should care.
Very impressive animation, but the pacing was extremely poor all the way through. The girls did such a speedrun of falling in love that it was blatantly obvious to me that one or both of them were going to die, and the speed of the death itself undercut the tension and made it feel a bit like a comedy smash-cut. Then for some reason the anime slows to a crawl until it's time for the big fight scene (which was, admittedly, stunning). I liked the twist of her wanting revenge, though I didn't really follow her logic or motivation fully. It ended up having a bit of a Talentless Nana feel to it, except that Talentless Nana knew how to use it's time wisely. Overall, just a lot of wasted potential. I give the premiere a 2/5.
