Memmy is great!

I just wanted to say that with the last two/three updates Memmy has become even better! The user experience is great and my Lemmy journey is a lot more pleasant with this app

Since it seems like a lot of people here aren't aware, this is app is open source and publicly licensed, and you can watch the effort being put in on github. It seems like the developer has been working around the clock to get this done, for free, writing code that is owned by the community. If you are loving it, send a few bucks to say thanks: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/gavink
It's doubly laudable when you consider that he's paying $100 for a developer license so we can have Memmy for free. He might have had the license already for other projects, but still, I'm humbled by the generosity, both in time, effort, and money.
Thanks for sharing that link! Just supported and am always happy to support open source projects that bring me so much joy!
I'll tip a coffee to the developer, thanks!
Yes, it’s really good except I have one problem : I cannot up vote or down vote any posts within the comments.
The default behaviour is to swipe from left to right on the comment. In the latest TestFlight release (0.1.0), they’ve added icons that you can tap on.
That works for me, until I accidentally move it too far and downvote. Then it’s a struggle to get it back to normal, and then it seems primed to downvote again, because it’s a struggle to get to the upvote again.
Oooooooh. Ok. You are wise in the ways of Lemmy.
Since you’re here, how do I mark my mail as read? No matter what I do it stays with the notification unread.
As others have pointed out, by default Memmy is swipe to vote. However I think the developer has a build coming with tap to vote as well!
Yep already in the beta I’m using right now.
Memmy is awesome as app, wefwef as webinterface
It’s a far superior app from the few available for Reddit, I would like swipe to scroll on videos/gifs, maybe in the future.
Can you reply to comments? I have been using Memmy since it’s very early stages and I have not figured out how to reply to someone’s comment.
Swipe from right to the left on the message you want to reply. Posting from memmy
There also was just an update that adds a reply button on comments
Also vote up and down buttons if you don’t want to swipe.
Just got the update I wish it was still clear though prior to this update on how to reply to comments as I don’t think it tells you anywhere how to.
I can just swipe left on it
I guess people not knowing about swiping the comments is why they added the buttons. Apollo and every reddit app I ever regularly used had swiping actions for comments and replys so it's natural to me. I'm guessing most apps have some sort of tutorial for teaching this when first starting to use the app. I kinda prefer less space being used with swipe only UI.
Swipe left.
Memmy and mlem is outstandingly awesome. Latest update on mlem also “chef kiss”, i have 2 account on different instances, even tho app have ability to use more than one account in one app, i use both mlem and memmy for different purpose of each account. Im happy the development of lemmy. Thank you dev..
Same here!
Couldn’t agree more! The app is so minimalistic and yet so intuitive, the gestures, the touch; absolutely great 🤌
Maybe this is not the place, but since the app is open source maybe some designer may create a new icon for the App? To be honest, the current one looks to me ugly
TestFlight just pushed an update with a new icon. You can change colors in Settings.
It’s really great so far! Couple things I’d like to see integrated or fixed:
Sometimes child comments do not show
An interface toggle to show only top level comments, or to scroll to the next or previous parent comment
It’s excellent. I’ve been really loving the amount of time and attention the dev is putting into this. The number of consistent—and useful—updates coming out is insane.
Just came to say that I like Memmy a lot, as well.
I’m just curious, what are the iOS alternatives for the fediverse right now?
Mlem, Liftoff, Thunder, Wefwef
Mlem is about to submit to the App Store too. Others in TestFlight, except wefwef which is a web app.
How to turn gif auto play off in feed ?
I came from Apollo, and I gotta say that Memmy feels like a spiritual successor to it. Nice, clean, and fast!
Same. It absolutely feels like it. I’ve really enjoyed Lemmy for the few days I’ve been here and Memmy just makes it so nice. I’m very surprised how much time I’ve spent here.
R.I.P Apollo
Yup! It gives me the same vibes too
Same here, loving the experience in TestFlight. I’m also eager to see this app push beyond just quality of life/stability changes and throw in some unique Fediverse features as well
