It is absolutely NOT too late for the vast majority of users. That's why I want reddit to go through with their plan and dig their own grave. Sick and tired of corporate bullshit to be honest.
This whole drama is getting tiresome. I’ll miss reddit but I just don’t have the emotional investment to do anything other than quit the site if they go through with the changes and hope others follow suit. I hope that lemmy proves to be a viable alternative
I’ve already quit the site. Even if they backpedal, it seems unlikely because of any desire or respect for the users and only because of current PR pressure. I’ve experienced it before where some hostile decision is walked back until the uproar dies down, and they try again. And again until the protest fatigue sets in.
I’m don't trust Reddit and have chosen to move on. Whether they stick around or not matters not to me. I’ve moved on and watch with an eye for curiosity and awareness. But no more emotional investment.

This. Decisions like this are not made on a whim. They go through multiple stages, meetings, financial and technical analyses, reviews, lawyers … many, many desks and people who sign off on the plan. They really want this.
Yeah, I for sure will spend more time here, it's just that some niche places I am probably will never move off of reddit, and it's either that or nothing, once old goes away though, I don't think I will be able to use the site any more.
The only thing I used reddit for was to lurk, see photos, upvote and read some comments or posts. I was barely active during this couple of years with a new account, after deleting an old one. Sometimes I saw it, and still see it, difficult for me to be active because of karma, some kind of polarization or toxicity, even on safe subreddits.
The good thing is that here, karma is non existent. Yes, you can upvote or downvote posts and comments, but those votes don't go to you as karma, so you're not affected. And that really helps neurodivergent people, as it's my case too (rejection sensitive dysphoria, I think it's called, one comorbidity of ADHD).
So, yes, fuck Reddit, and I'll stay here as long as it lasts.

Yeah same, all my subs except my local ones were going down hill the past few years. I'm hopeful the post quality here remains high and we don't get the same few tired predictable comments under post.
Yeah I bet this is just going to be an attempt at ass covering and blaming 3rd party devs for whatever. In any case it's almost guaranteed to be a huge clusterfuck for reddit with whatever tone deaf replies and talking points spez regurgitates.
What does he think he's going to solve with this AMA? The Reddit community has proven time and time again that they can smell bullshit a mile away, and have buried most admin posts with downvotes.
