That's what happens when you cheat on me with Naomi from down the street in my own damn house!
Idk, I've seen the saves of some girls who casually play Sims and not much if anything else. I'm not saying it's how they all are, but this tracks. At least with my limited personal experience.
Games are about fantasy, usually power fantasies. I guess some people would rather escape into a better, idealized version of their current life than into one with aliens and shooting or dragons and magic. Sims isn't really my thing, but hey, different strokes eh?
Can add that as the IT nerd dude friend (I had the master pirate copy for whenever anyone new wanted to play lol) in a group of girls 10ish or so strong: only 1 didn't play the Sims, and she was eventually talked into it, and my wife's friend group from the same age was similar, so it tracks decently it seems
I also quite enjoy the Sims even as a "hardcore" gamer that enjoys other escapist fantasies. Sometimes it's just fun to play in a dollhouse, especially one as absolutely hilarious and ridiculous as the Sims can be
My wife made sim characters of us when we were first dating.
I apparently cried a lot and her sim character hooked up with another woman.
It's a pretty good simulation.
My brother made a sim character of me. I forgot about it and more than a year later I saw he was still playing it.
Other time I once got a compliment from a guy I was buying beer from because of my mustache "as soon as I get home I'm going to make a sim character based of you"
Shrek: "Yeah, like that would ever happen."
