so do you think the rumors are true about Heroes of the Storm?
Basically one year after the game was said to be never updated again, this giant bug fix and balance update just drops without any warning. And this happens just as the Microsoft deal is finalized and Bobby is leaving Activision at the end of the year.
This left many fans wondering if the MOBA would be returning, as Microsoft hinted at wanting to possibly explore or Revitalize old intellectual properties after the blizzard deal went through.
So since I can't find a dedicated Heroes of the Storm bored on lemmy, I figured I would just make this post and see if anyone else believes we may truly be going back to the Nexus.
Hots was the only game of the genre that I enjoyed. Still not touching it til kotik is gone
Played League since open beta... got into HotS and never looked back until it crashed and burned. Don't think I could get into a moba again.
...unless HotS makes a comeback... i do miss my baby abathur...
Microsoft works in mysterious ways. Another oddity is how the Microsoft Store version of The Evil Within is a more-updated, more-featured version of the game than every other version including on console, and I don't think they've ever acknowledged it. It only released when they bought Bethesda, so maybe it's a similar story here where they're just putting out some unreleased work.

I feel like the chances are high that more dead IPs would be revived under MS than ActiBlizz
Apparently StarCraft was fingered as an IP they'd want to bring back and HOTS does use the SC2 engine
HotS isn't really dead - you can play it now and it feels as good as ever. We all want to see continued balance patches and more cosmetics and heroes and maps but the fact is that it already feels balanced and has enough cosmetics and enough heroes and enough maps.
That's not to say we won't love more or that we may as well stop playing it, but the real question you're asking here is if the game is dead - it is not dead, and therefore won't "return". You just load it up, pick a hero, click Ready - and it's "returned".
That would be pretty cool for those who cling to Heroes of the Storm. It has a solid foundation and is a nice refresh on the same old formula.

I started playing it again recently and it's as good and fun as ever. If they start up the development again I hope they don't make it worse, I don't want hots2 with the same 'blizzard overwatch 2' mindset.
Well funny thing is, HOTS used to work like Overwatch 2, but they changed it to work more like OW1 in an update called "HOTS 2.0", which was very well received.
Personally I get you though, Battle Passes and other FOMO nonsense are cancer and I don't want it in games
Oh yeah I played both before and after hots 2.0, I just don't want battle passes and overpriced skins. I always thought the gold, gem and shard prices were pretty fair and accessible in hots, which made me actually spend money on it more than any other game at the time... but apparently it wasn't designed in a way to draw the whales in so it didn't make as much money off them.
For the sake of those who love the game, I hope it's true. Personally, I doubt it, but who knows...
