REPACK - P2P vs Scene Terminology (TV Shows and Movies)
After searching around online, it seems REPACK (for TV Shows and Movies) means something different when used by Scene groups vs P2P groups.
From what I've gathered:
Scene REPACK means something was wrong with the original (non-REPACK) upload. The original Scene release group then releases a fixed version and labels it as a REPACK.
All I've been able to find on P2P REPACK's is that it means something different than it does for Scene. Does anyone have any additional context on what REPACK means when used on P2P releases of TV Shows/Movies?
Means the same thing, that there was something wrong with the original upload. However, it doesn't mean that what was wrong was the encode itself, but it could be the torrent that was created that was wrong (like a client adding padding files that blocked some users from completing the download).
While I agree with the other commenter, I also think it has something to do with just releasing a better overall encode/rip.
As you know, sometimes release groups “race” each other. This may result in some corner cutting that it’s addressed later.
