Lemmy is catching up with 4chan circa 2006 in terms of "wtf is going on".

I was on here only yesterday, I come back, it's just a bunch of beans lol

It's kind of stupid and seems to have been taken too far. It's not even funny. I hope lemmy doesn't become like reddit with the dumb overused memes.

Meme culture moves quick on lemmy, I have no idea where the beans came from or what it means, and I think it'll be replaced with something else by the time I figure it out

That's a good sign. One of the endearing things about Reddit was coming in and discovering some weird-ass new trend that had blown up in the space of 24 hours that everybody else had already gotten on board for. "Ok, I guess we're doing people doing paintings of other people standing next to their paintings and making a big chain, that's cool." There'd be the initial trend itself, then reaction-memes to that trend, then shitposts making fun of the trend, then finally, after a span of time, TIL posts talking about the trend after the fact.
