5 - one Beehaw, but after taking me 2 weeks to be accepted, I moved on to lemmy.world and now switched to lemm.ee since lemmy.world is having some problems with the huge influx of new users. Also have another one on lemmynsfw.com for...Well... Reasons. I also have one on Kbin, altough I don't really use it since 99% of my Lemmy/Kbin browsing in on Android and I don't know of any KBin apps as of now, besides, I think I'll just settle down on lemm.ee for now.

Started off with Lemmy.ml then wanted a bigger instance.
Moved to Lemmy.world then ended up having too many users and lagging.
So I moved to a good compromise: Lemmy.blahaj.zone
But yeah. Three so far with the exact same username 😬
I opened an account in lemmy.world first, simply because I didn't know better. Then I realized that it'll be a good idea to stay on a smaller instance. Been with lemmy.sdf.org since and been pretty happy with it.
Three total, but was using lemmy.world as my main until recently with all the groaning under the pressure of all the new signups so yesterday I spent about an hour or so methodically recreating my subscribe feed on lemm.ee
Nothing at all against the admins over at .world but when it’s pushing the absolute limits of capacity with all the new people coming by, it makes for a different experience all together on a smaller instance. Course because it’s hiccuping over there I’m seeing some significant delays in federation but whaddyagonnado.
Two. I started on lemmy.ml, but then I spun up my own instance for me and a couple friends who mentioned wanting to check out lemmy.
- Started on lemmy.ml when I didn’t know anything about lemmy. Switched to lemmy.world after getting annoyed with the tankie shit. Then switched to Midwest.social because lemmy.world was way over inundated and barely functioning.
Only one, I was tempted to sign up to another but I only just about got a nice mix of subscribed communities on this one and don't have the patience to go through it again. I don't really see the point, either, unless you are signing up to a second one that isn't federated with your current one.
Also, shout out to ReddThat.com, absolutely zero glitches or issues so far except for those that seem to be fediverse wide. Good place to be with good people.

Well, I just joined today, so only one. But since you can subscribe and post to communities on any other instance, I’m not sure why I would need to sign up on another unless I wanted to change. That’s what makes the fediverse amazing.

I signed up about two weeks ago I think? And I picked one that seemed large enough and permissive enough to be stable but not the biggest because I knew that one was going to get flooded with new users and suffer once the rest of reddit decided to jump ship.
So far, seems to have been the right choice.
Just the one (lemmy.world), but also have a kbin account just out of curiosity. Been using Lemmy much more though 🙃

I read some weeks ago that lemmy instances are like email providers. So I've taken to hear the advice that I should try different instances before settle into one. It has also been part of my lemmy leaning process. I won't recommend it, though.

I only recently joined after hearing about lemmy. So far, I've been happy with sopuli.xyz alone.
3 (4 if you count kbin). Beehaw (which took weeks to be approved) so moved to Lemmy world, which is now overloaded and slow so Lemm.ee which is snappy and fast.
- I started out with the og Lemmy.ml.
- Then created my own instance/bot Lemmit.
- Thought Lemmy.ml was to slow/unstable, so created an account on Lemmy.world
- Gotta have a separate account for grown up stuff, so signed up on LemmyNSFW.com
- Gee... Lemmy.world is kinda slow/unstable... Better sign up on lemm.ee...
I'll probably retire the lemmy.ml and world accounts though.
Joined lemmy.world on June 12th, around July 3rd when it got overloaded I joined vlemmy.net, been happy ever since. So 2 instances. I still sometimes check lemmy.world to see if my posts/comments are posting because vlemmy is facing federation issues due to the reddit HoD.
I'm on two right now. It seems like there are issues with comments loading from other instances. For example I commented on a post hosted on instance A from my instance B, but I couldn't see the replies to my comment without going to instance A directly. This left me unable to see or respond directly to their reply without making an account on instance A

Two so far. Started on slrpnk.net because I liked their community list and general theme and focus. Added midwest.social because I was thinking of hosting a community and I didn't feel like it fit Solarpunk's tight focus, and I didn't want to detract from that. Midwest is now my main, but I actively use both.
Two, and a Kbin. The first instance was just for bots (friendly ones I made), then I signed up for this account to use as an alt as Kbin is a bit flaky. Kbin is my main account but I'm using this one quite a bit due to frequent 500 errors over there.
I have one on lemmy.ca and one on kbin.social. The latter was mostly because federation was broken at the time I signed on with the reddit migration.
I'd say I spend more time on lemmy now? Yes, kbin's interface looks more modern and slick but seems less functional? I particularly like that you can collapse threads on lemmy. And I guess a bunch of apps are headed to lemmy first so there's that.
Usually, I like to post/reply using the kbin account if it's to a kbin magazine, but something weird happened the other day. I actually saw a new post on kbin.social from my lemmy account before it showed up on kbin. I'm not sure how that's even possible?

So initially it was Lemmy.ml (which wasn't working too well) and it got annoying that I wasn't logged in when opening links - so BeeHaw, Lemmy.world, https://fosstodon.org/ is BendyToy,...
One thing I'm finding useful now in Bitwarden is that I can autofill and copy (so just refresh for a new password) to get the same username for each one... but it's kind of getting out of hand.
It's a little frustrated that we can't use a kind of centralised profile - like the way an 'opendesktop' account can be used to log in to various instances of websites. If I log in the Opendesktop website, and then go to Mastodon, I find my Opendesktop account gets logged in there - so there's more fragmentation.
Overal it is just very confusing.
Only 1, haven't needed to have more accounts and there isn't an instantance I have wanted to visit but that has blocked mine yet, so no need to have another one right now

Two! One on Lemmy.world a day or two after it was started ... that one is now painfully too slow, and a second that was originally going to be just for porn but now is my main, at least till world is sorted out
One on VLemmy.net, 3 on Kbin.
I wanted to get away using the main Kbin.social server, but am finding my accounts on smaller Kbin instances (Fedia.Io and Readit.buzz) have inferior content to Kbin.social. I will often find posts and image previews missing on smaller instances. I also hate how Kbin warns about missing content any time you Federated magazines.
Also, I got tired of waiting for an iPhone app for Kbin and have started using WefWef for Lemmy.
As a result, I am using VLemmy mostly for my browsing.
I have one in kbin, lemmy.world, lemmy.one, and this one that I'm using right now in my own instance. So 4 total.
I don't use the first three much anymore now that I have this one but prior to this, I was mostly active in lemmy.one
edit: I forgot to mention that I use the other three to test federation between my instance and others.

I'm still not super certain how lemmy works, but there seems to be more activity on lemmy.world. Also, when I tried subscribing to communities on sopuli, most of them said "Pending" and I still wasn't subbed after a couple days. Lemmy.world seems easier.
Three, first on lemmy.ml, then programming.dev and also lemm.ee.
Lemmy.ml loads very slowly lately, probably due to the recent massive influx of Reddit refugees.
Programming.dev is fine, but from there I mostly see empty pages or less posts when visiting communities hosted on other instances.
Lemm.ee might be a good compromise: loads faster than lemmy.ml and a good generalist instance with a decent amount of users.
3, though I’m including kbin.social too. I’m settling on Lemmy.world for mobile use, and kbin.social for PC use. I made a Lemmy.ml account at the start of the blackout and just never used it.
