Hunter Biden tells Congress he’d testify publicly, but Republicans demand closed-door session

The radicalized right wing is so obsessed with Hunter that it's easy to forget that he doesn't even hold office.
- It’s a strange obsession for sure.
  You know how some people go “gosh I’m in a bad mood and I should be careful with my temper” while others just project their feelings others because it’s obviously someone else’s fault? That’s what’s going on here.
  
  It's not an obsession with Biden, it's an obsession with deflection and distraction. It has to be continuous. It literally can't stop for a minute because people might be able to stop, look and listen for 5 minutes and realize they are getting fucked.
  Gotta keep that adrenaline/dopamine high going with fear, anger and desperation.
- Not holding an office or even an advisory position. His relation to the government is literally the same as Baron Trump's. I like some of Trump's other children who were official advisors and "working" on his behalf at times.
Rep. Jim Jordan, chair of the House Judiciary Committee, said Republicans will stick with a private deposition first and then a public hearing.
That's the way all public testimony is usually held. There's a private deposition that's videotaped and then the public testimony about what was said during the deposition.
This gives everyone a chance to formulate questions during testimony. It's the same reason if you were given an assignment to deliver a talk about a topic, it makes sense to know the topic and study it ahead of time.
I know Republicans will absolutely use the deposition to formulate attacks on Biden, but it also means Biden's attorneys know the line of questioning Republicans will try to use. This is all a part of discovery.
I'm not trying to throw support towards the Republicans, but closed door depositions are a pretty standard practice.
