[FFXVI] Final Fantasy 16’s Review Bombing Stems From an Ages Old Argument
Final Fantasy 16's position as the latest AAA game to receive negative user scores highlights a long-standing disagreement among the series' fans.
Reviews as they’re currently implemented are going to become obsolete once other players are tired enough of seeing review bombing happen. Maybe platforms need to make trialing games more widely available and mainstream so that a person can decide (with relative ease) for themselves whether or not the game is good for them.
For me I have found outlets/critics whose tastes reflect mine and default to their reviews, as opposed to the aggregate scores on OpenCritic or Metacritic. I have discovered many games (Chained Echoes to name one) through this so would recommend!
I will miss turn base. It's nostalgic and ff was where I got it. I don't really want more button mashing games. Not that turn base was much different.ost enemies would require the same attack anyway.
But I liked learning the most efficient way to kill something. Building toxic or poisonous attacks to whittle down attacks. You get different playthroughs using different mechanics.
You had party members so could swap playthrough, status affects melee magic distance. It was much more interesting than just. Bash sword and maybe magic attack if you want. The aeons were pretty fun too.
I'm bias my favourites were FFX and 12. I've played through the rest but those are the ones I started with and love.
I despised 15 and likely won't get 16 for a very long time if at all. It's not the FF I loved. That's okay. Things change. A new generation will decide.
