Melbourne Airport Rail makes the cut in federal funding review
The long-awaited rail link has survived a federal infrastructure review, setting up a financial headache for the Victorian government which sought to stall the project.
Thank goodness. This project is decades overdue.
And while it might not do the most for moving people around the city, it’s a reputation thing.
Maybe I'm cynical but I wouldn't get too excited about it. It's not real until they start laying tracks.
Yeah I'm the same. Although I'd go a step further. I won't be truly excited for it until I can go to a train station and get on a train that takes me to the airport. I've seen enough projects get scrapped even after the initial sods are turned that I don't trust it to be done until it's either at a stage where it would cost more to cancel it than to finish it (like if it's 95% complete and they'd be charged a breach of contract fee to cancel it) or when it's something I can ACTUALLY use. Until then it's all just hot air to me
