I'm not the biggest Leclerc fan, but damn he deserved that podium today, and there was nothing he could do to prevent the collision. Like Hamilton said, he did what Hamilton did at Qatar.
If he can get his qualifying form in order he's probably on the podium every remaining race. At that point he's all but locked up 4th.
I'm glad to see his faith in the team rewarded with a car that appears to be on a rocket trajectory right now. With some luck and a ton of work in Woking over the winter there's a legitimate chance of a Max/Daniel vs Lando/Oscar vs Lewis/George vs Charles/Carlos for poles, wins, and a couple of championships before the new regulations hit.
First of all. I love that the results are not plastered all over this post/thumbnail. So no spoilers for those who havenโt seen the race yet. Kudos to the OP.
Cutting away from the Ricciardo Russel battle to see Max finish the last lap was so frustrating, especially when you saw the gap on the timing tower get down to two hundredths. I get that you need to see the finish happen but we don't need to see Max for half a lap, just the last corner will do.
Merc seems to be coming back into form. Very excited to see what they do next year. Canโt believe Lewis managed on those scrub mediums.
Ferrari actually did quite well, relatively speaking. Expected them to fall off way harder.
Danny was great, maybe brilliant. He put himself on the second row but we all knew the AT doesnโt have the race pace to keep that. I wonโt be surprised to see him overtake Yuki in the points.
Itโs hard being a Checo fan, and he may have lost me today. He keeps making these stupid pass attempts and I just donโt understand it. He compromised Charlesโ race too. Just, unreal and disappointing af.
Haas was surprising, but faded away as is tradition. They just did it a bit slower save for Kmagโs crash.
Iโm basing on the last two races. Lewis said he feels like he can lean on the car for the first time since the new rules, and the way heโs outperformed George these last two weeks has me thinking theyโre figuring it out.
But you are still correct, it could be a flash in the pan.
I wonโt be surprised to see him overtake Yuki in the points.
There was a point in the race when it seemed that yuki would finish either just behind ricciardo or even ahead of him considering he was on new hards. Yes Ricciardo has his self confidence back but I am not ready to buy that Ricciardo is faster than tsunoda all of a sudden. Yes Ricciardo is a more complete driver than tsunoda because he has the maturity and experience which tsunoda showed that he sorely lacks. However on pure pace over a grand prix, tsunoda still seems to have the edge
Danny has run like 5 races and is 2 points behind Yuki. Yea Yuki has had a lot of bad luck this year, and itโs not necessarily an indictment on his ability, itโs just that Yuki hasnโt been able to turn his flashes of brilliance into consistent results. Heโs a talented driver, but thereโs something heโs still missing thatโs holding him back and I think Danny is going to beat him in points because of it.
The race is over and I still can't get over what Perez pulled. Calling it completely unnecessary feels like an understatement. The move was so stupid it's bordering on self-sabotage.
