The world does not want to kill you. She made monsters to scare you from her wonders. They keep you in the village, and out of the woods. The monsters know a hundred colorful ways to scare you. Death is only the last one.
Just saw one that said the monster was going to give me a back ache. Like man, I am WAY ahead of you on that one.
“Scream loudly. Something will surely hear.” This could be epic while the players are trying to take a desperately needed long rest in a dangerous location. They encounter an otherwise harmless gnome or fey or kobold, that makes an outrageous demand. Like the players handing over one of their most valuable magic items. Otherwise they’ll scream.
Your relationship with your significant other. Some monsters don't look monstrous. They can use charms and wiles to steal your girl/boy/otherfriend from you if you don't pay up.
