Dick Diver were lumped into a "scene", perpetuated by a now defunct music website, known as "Dolewave", after the unemployment benefits colloquially known as "the dole". They were characterized by a DIY, jangly, sometimes laconic, sometimes insistent, guitar sound. Courtney Barnett was also sometimes mentioned as being dolewave.
