Nearly every UK constituency has been represented in a petition to protect peatland from windfarms, launched by an East Lancashire campaign group.

A Parliamentary Petition, launched by conservation groups Ban the Burn and Upper Calderdale Wildlife Network, together with the For Peat’s Sake campaign group, has called on the government to ban wind farms on protected peatland.

With more than 6,000 signatures across all UK constituencies in the last 10 days, the petition calls for amendments to the Planning and Infrastructure Bill, which is expected to become law by the end of the year.
