Wow I thought this being Coletto he'd be talking about some poll. Did not expect to see him glaze Rob Ashton!
And yeah Rob is gonna mop the floor with PP. He's gonna attack him hard on his fake solidarity and I think it's gonna work. Ashton doesn't have to play theatre to look and sound like a worker.
I think he's the right direction the NDP need to go in, but Rob Ashton himself is pretty uninspiring when you listen to him talk.

Long answer Mike Harris was so bad for Ontario that they won’t vote NDP no matter who it is. Adding in massive right wing immigration (because people in left wing societies have no reason to leave) we are unlikely to see this change anytime soon.

Never seen NDP blamed for anything Harris did. The hate anyone remembers seems to start and end with Rae Days. I think they were mainly castigated for not fixing Mulroney's problems (yes, Ontarian voters just can't seem to figure out why their premier can't fix federal politics) and providing that one particularly unpopular policy. Harris was actually popular enough to have Ontarians eager to double down on him. Again, Ontario voters were impressed enough with Chretien and Martin righting the ship to give credit to the provincial PCs.

Yes but they blame all the bad he did on Bob Rae for putting the world into the recession that was going on when the NDP took office.
Conservatives will scream shit like “pick your poison” and then CHUG the worst poison. They’re fully stupid or they know their option sucks and are trying to justify but are also incredibly stupid. I mean, Ontario elected Doug Ford TWICE because “those Liberals are corrupt, ya know” like brother if you’re against corruption I have some terrible news for you.
The point of this is to say that Ontario is dumb as rocks. ~45% turnout and a lot of complaining after electing a cartoon villain to power.

I don't know what it takes for people to realise that the NDP is an option for the working class. It's probably some combination of the leader's attributes, and competent staff getting the right messages out in the right places. I hope they can get it right.
People don't like being told what the want is wrong, even if it is.
Quality of life, not world issues and social justice, are what makes the working class vote for a party. Your union is there to get you higher wages and better working conditions, equality is a side effect of membership, not the goal.
There's been a huge working class vacuum in Canadian politics for years that Pollievre was able to fill despite being a horrible fit ("boots not suits" while wearing $2000 suede leather shoes lol). We need real socialists and trade unionists running the NDP again.
Poilievre is a beneficiary of an enormous amount of tailwinds from right-wing political winds blowing into Canada from the south, and the fact that our social media and a lot of our traditional media are owned south of the border or aligned with that movement.
The NDP is going to face a big challenge in this environment no matter what. The NDP coffers are far from bursting at the seems, and they won't get the benefit of all that free support that exists on the right.
I'm interested to learn more about Ashton, and I really want to see the NDP have a resurgence. We need strong people going into politics for the NDP to keep the multi-party system healthy.
