PHP is the English of programming languages

It's a terrible disorganised mess, it's inconsistent, it makes very little objective sense, but for some reason we seem to have settled on it as the default for webdev

It's not the default, C is.
There hasn't been a reason to use PHP for over a decade.
- I meant for webdev.
Just wait 'til you learn about JavaScript!
It's also easy to learn and ready-to-go on just about every shared hosting package on offer.

I think you mean it’s the US English.

  Sorry, when you said English and default I just assumed you were full colonial, and thought you meant simplified English, not British.
