Microsoft forced to make Windows 10 extended security updates truly free in Europe

You won’t have to enable Windows Backup to get extended Windows 10 security updates in the European Economic Area.

It still needs you to sign in, which they have been forcing on everyone in Win 11. So it is far from „free without a catch“.
- For advanced users there are ways to circumvent that and to debloat Windows. But having to do that is already a big no no.

A lifeline for some (especially companies?). Hope enough make a switch too linux, though.
I always thought that EU regulations on big tech would eventually be adopted in the US via public outcry. But it looks like they're going in the opposite direction. Very sad.
- Trump wants to sack the Microsoft CEO because of this. Or probably just because she's a woman, actually.
