Star Citizen fans sigh deeply, rub their foreheads as developer casts doubt on Squadron 42's 2026 release: 'I don't know if we're going to make it'

As long as people keep giving them money they will keep pushing deadlines.

When people stop they will stop making and running the game.

A strange game, the only winning move is not to play.

Since they started working on this game I've had time to go to university, graduate, decide to change careers, go back to university, graduate again, and literally help launch several successful aerospace vehicles. If it ever launches it won't matter. The dream is dead and anything they release at this point can only be a disappointment. Such a shame.

I wish Star Citizen was less fun to play so I could stop caring about it.

What most people don't know, the 42 in Squadron 42 stands for 2042. The release will happen in 17 years from now.

It definitely will be interesting, considering they are working against their strengths.

It's not an open world, it's going to depend heavily on their world building and story writers, it's going to be an offline linear experience, it's going to be released as a finished product and not as "oh, this is a work in progress, we'll continue to work on the flaws"...
